Went to the Quilt Show

And had a very quick meet-up with Pati (we kept asking if anyone knew her--finally had one gal tell us how to find out where she was :) ((Pati, I do not have your #)). I was wiped out by then, so we talked a bit, and she pointed out a couple of quilts that were worth noticing again......then DS and I were going to go to the Vendors as we 'did the quilts first'. We opened the door and saw the bumper to bumper crowd and said "Forget it". Quite surprising for a Friday. Got in the car and proceeded to drive in bumper to bumper traffic until we got off the freeway (Friday Rush Hour was just getting warmed up).

Saw a few Butterfly quilts(one made in 30's fabric---on my TODO list) and one of 'Old Fashioned Ladies done in Greenwork' not redwork (thought of Ragmop immediately) that really called out to me (as far as I could tell it was hand embroidered). Saw one mini that just begged for a ribbon but didn't have any...was done with teeny tiny HAND embroidered stitches with bullion roses that was just exquisite. ((Pati, you'll have to tell me if it gets Voter's Choice))

Came home to find our entire kitchen looks like something out of Star Wars with all the plastic hanging all over the place but the final coat of drywall is on.YAY! The Painter said he'd come tomorrow so they wouldn't be tripping over each other.....

Dinner out tonight :)

My "first" quilt show after I joined RCTQ......I met Jeanbaby and HoBo. I will never forget the HUGE GRINS they both had. Do you remember, Jeanbaby?

It was good to see you Butterfly. Even briefly. It was a change though folks--- Ms. B'fly was walking and I was in a wheel chair! The show this year was over 400 quilts. and many of them were wonderful. I did get some pics, and will see about trying to post them sometime.

Today(Sat.) was a long day. It took 2 hours to get the quilts down, packed and checked in so that they could be picked up. So it was well after 6 by the time I got my quilts, then got to the car and loaded up. After 7 by the time I got home.

Now it is time to get to bed.

Seeing quilts before visiting vendors is very noble of you. I have never been that good. It is always straight to the vendors for me.

It's called 'choices', now that I can 'shop online' if need be. I knew I might be far too tired to shop after---or too tired to see all the quilts if I shopped first. I'm just glad I did get to meet up with Pati : ) 'Sides I just went to Houston last Nov......and finally had time to shop at my LQS here in Fountain Hills : ) Need to go back this week, if I can squeeze it in, as I found a WUH pattern that was named:

Are you READY for this?

Are you SURE?

*But It's A Dry Heat* by Sticks and Broomsticks

Yes, I had one for Miz Ragmop with a bit of apropos(?) fabric for her upcoming visit and then couldn't find it before she got here--so I had to mail it . I was GOOD tho and didn't breathe a word about it when she was here. (See, Mom, I CAN keep a secret ; ) Have one for myself to put over the fireplace..... gonna be neat to see how diff Ragmop and Mine are when they're done.

Thanks Patti, Mr. Joe drove me to my Dr appointment today : ) Dr said he could drive once he was off the major PKs :) He still tires quickly so he napped whilst I was busy.

Wow, MR.Joe you are doing great. Course Missy Butterfly is no slouch. Dry heat huh? Can't wait to see that one. I was in my ROOM, looking at stuff to maybe start a quilt or something. Haven't touched the machine for close to a year. Gads. I will be rusty. Jeanbaby.

You'ze better get cracking, Mom, cause I want Flip and Flap when we come calling. I'm sure ONE of your new rooms will need something to enhance it. I can't wait to see your quilting set up. Have you named it yet? Can't just be "ROOM". I've been thinking about how/where I want to put "Butterfly's Studio" in there.....on a wall/door/over the window. Scratching my head o'er this one. Do I want it next to the painting of my fancied up name (Therese) with birds and butterflies that I had done when we went to Universal Studios or not.

I usually do the vendors first, too -- the quilts are usually so crowded that I wait for the crowds to sort of thin out first.

That's great news, Sally. I hadn't thought about days; but I can't see any reason why I couldn't go on the Thursday. That would be such fun. See if you can get some of the advance information, from Creative Exhibitions (send for a ticket now-ish and you should get it). That way you can see which of the small exhibitions within the show that you want to be sure not to miss. You can also decide which of the quilt categories is the favourite for you. My first couple of years I just wandered round. It was hopeless and overwhelming. So, last year I decided ahead of time and I felt more satisfied afterwards. I usually get the Show guide immediately on arrival, then a cup of coffee while I search through the guide for entrants I know and get their numbers ... ... Train is, for sure, the best way to get there.

(Sorry if I sound bossy. It is such a long way for you, I just want you to have the best day possible). . In message , Sally Swindells writes
