Quilting

Yuppers, it IS On Topic.

You'all know that SIL is here to help out (TG for that!!!) whilst Mr. Joe recuperates......well.......we do MORE than baby-sit.

Yesterday we cut and sewed 200 8" squares for her Mission quilts. We got into the fabrics that 'I inherited' when we purchased this house plus some others that she brought and set to cutting and sewing. One piece had 12 different sized pieces in it of all the same fabric. She takes the same fabric to make a square using up every last usable piece (I was even sewing

3/4" to get the last corner:) Once she gets back 'home' she'll take it to the "Quilting Church" (They let everyone that needs to use their set-up as it's a small community), the gals will put them on the design wall and then get to sewing. They 'birth' them or take the backing fabric to the front for the binding , tie them, and then send them out to the 'request for the month'. She figures we have enuf for 3 quilts. We even worked in the Studio on Thursday, then the painter came yesterday and he'll be done today. Fumes will be too strong for us to work in there for a few days. Monday, the carpet gets here.......then the trim.....

Stay tuned for Moving In Day details............

Mr. Joe is doing quite well for all he's been thru--actually is doing much better than we had anticipated.

Good to hear that Mr Joe is doing well. You're right, he's been through a lot (as have you) over the past few years. Sounds like you had a marathon day with your DSIL. Good for you - kept you out of mischief! Have great fun when you do 'take possession' of the Sewing Studio. . In message , Butterflywings writes

sounds good Butterfly. Any chance you and SIL will make it to the quilt show next weekend? (Actually Fri or Sat??) I will be there. Finished the last of the beading on the Christmas Tree quilt last night. Just need to get everything into the bags, with the paper labels affixed and to the drop off tomorrow. And please let me know if you need any help with the studio move in. Honestly. Always an enjoyable end to a long drive when it is meeting up with a friend or two.

She leaves Tues. Send more details on the Show as DS gets Friday off so that would be my day of choice for a meet-up if that's possible. I'm thinking its at the Fairgrounds?

Butterfly (Who actually bought a NEW cutting board today at Hancock's for 30 % off..(Mesa location--is that one closing?) SIL is taking my smaller old one as it will fit in her suitcase. Yuppers, she's quite good with that rotary now :)

Thanks to all of you, we're hoping it does, too. Yes, his/our Hug(s) is/are on his bed (Ragmop can testify to that : )

Butterfly, the quilt show is at ASU West, Thunderbird and 43rd Ave. Easiest way for you to get there is probably to get onto the 101 Loop, take it all the way around to I-17, go south to Thunderbird. Then west on T'bird about 2-3 miles. You'll see signs on campus. I will be there on Friday, probably all day, and there are several others that are coming in on Fri. some of them from down south.... Sounds like a meet up at the show on Fri. I will be at the preview party on Thurs evening (At least I have a ticket and if I don't end up in the hospital or something I will be) so I can scope out the layout and suggest a meetup time and place. I am supposed to white glove for a couple of hours and so is someone else... so we can work around that too. The show is going to be a good sized one. There were over 400 entries, but some of those may not make it into the show. (Always late/last minute withdrawal for one reason or another.)

The Hancock's in Mesa is supposed to be the only one staying here in the Valley. Not positive but that is what I have been told.

Glad to hear all is well and Mr. Joe is recuperating nicely. Congrats on the studio, Butterfly, I can hardly wait to see pictures of the "finished" room.
