But not the way you might think! We aren't quite to the borders yet. I got the blocks sewn together last night. The previous night I put my precut rectangles in pairs and made more blocks....just for fun and to use up my rectangles...not quite all, but almost. Now I'm wondering if we might like the top to be more square-ish rather than a rectangle In the last four pictures in my webshots WIP album I have uploaded a picture of the top sewn together (actually two), one of the top with the possible extra blocks and one with the extra blocks tucked in.
The game continues!
square :-D
Thanks Jessamy! I started to write Jess. Does anyone call you that?
Kathyl (KJ) remove "nospam" before mchsi
YW :-)
Jess is a much used name for me - about half of the people I know use it
Oh poor you! I'm so glad you didn't spill the chocolate though! Not only would it have been a waste of good chocolate, it would not have been much fun to clean up! A close call.
I like square also, but whatever shape you decide will be great.
Square!
exactly it's Callabaut chocolate!! *and* I just finished the spring clean of the kitchen!
I have had my leg iced and up for an hour and it's still sore, the other bits that got bumped are now painless (ribs and a boob) leg has a dent just under the knee that is an interesting colour and was that from the word go and my leg from the knee to the ankle is slightly tingly. good thing I had some lasagne lurking in the fridge so I don't have to cook now!
I think square, too. Your assessment of having a "stretched" look was absolutely correct. I love all those batiks. If I ever decide to take up applique, it will be this. So simple, but yet looks amazing!! Nice job!!
Yes I like the 11 blocks by 9 blocks! Its a good balance size imho!
Thanks Sandy. I think that's what I need to do. Not a lot more work since I already have the blocks pretty much ready.
MMMMMMMMMMMMM chocolate.................................
Thanks Terri! I wasn't sure if my "stretched" impression was quite right. I'm glad you see it that way too. This is applique that isn't applique! Thanks again.
Thanks Estelle! I love getting these opinions and observations!
I lost KJ's original post, so I'll piggyback here. I go for square (and that surprised me, because I anticipated I'd like the extra blocks!).
Kathyl, how big is each block finished? cuz i'm just not sure which way i prefer it from the pix so maybe if i knew the size of them i'd be better able to 'visualize' the difference. ...think'n extra leftover blocks could be used to edge pillowcases? or as a separate full across the bed size pillow coverlet thingy, dont know what it would be called but i'd envisage it so you could simply/easily stuff your bed pillows inside it from the top of the bed and it would 'match' the quilt. clear as mud, sorry. just me pondering again. cheers,' jeanne
Each block finished would be 3.75" wide and 5" high. I think the webshots pictures are almost easier to compare when looking at the thumbnails rather than the whole picture. Maybe that's just me. This will be a wall quilt...not a bed quilt. It's not all that big.
HUmmm...square IS with the extra blocks! :-) It's a rectangle without the extra row.
that is probly what confuddled me then. ta, Kathyl, still pondering here, i'll get back to ya when i make up my mind....what mind? i lost that yrs ago, oh well, will get back to ya some time. thanks for the size on the blocks. jeanne
Howdy!
Yes.
Liking both versions (the ovals still give it a sense of length which I like), as you already have the extra row sewn, use it. ;-)
