I don't want that information on a "public" board. The Pentagon has been hacked, so have banks, nowhere is safe.

I never said I *wanted* to use this as a place for the directory Bonnie - just disagreeing with how I thought at the time that NightMist was suggesting - as it happens her basic idea was sound but I'd still not want to use the yahoo for this.

No, no, no - the Directory is not going online on Yahoo or Google or any other website. It was just a thought - albeit a scary one! The process remains the same as we have always done it. The Directory will be emailed to those already in it, or vetted to the hilt if they aren't.

I don't think it's a question of being nosy. If my information has been compromised I want to know who did it and how badly. Anybody in the directory has a right to know that.

Sandy: One of your paragraphs (saved below) has raised some questions. *I* thought it referred to a certain someone who really likes to receive Hug Quilts. I think others think it means the Directory was directly exploited.

So, was the problem to which you refer directly connected to the Directory? (Or) was it a RCTQ problem caused by a person who happens to be listed in the Directory? Clear as mud?

Thanks, PAT >

I too thought the "burned bit" was by a person who collects hugs by questionable means

Pat, I appreciated your input as I always do. My response was aimed at the general audience, so I apologize if it appeared strongly worded or as a personal response. My original query has grown in several directions so I wanted to assuage any worries about the future of the Directory.

As far as I know, the Directory information has never been compromised. I want to make that clear. If anyone has information to the contrary, please contact me via email.

Thanks, Pat, on both levels. Hopefully, she'll hear something soon!

Karen, If anybody knows what state you live in you are probably findable anyway through all the white pages searches. I agree - and hate - that my address is so accessible online but unless I want to pay for an unlisted number (and then sometimes in gets out there anyway) you have to search for yourself in all the different places and make yourself unaccessible. I haven't done it recently but once upon a time I found the name and address of someone I *knew* had an unlisted phone number online. I actually think email is safer for sharing contact information.

Hi Alice, Since I have been in the Directory, I have not had any Spam come to that E-mail addy. I would think I would have seen some junk if that info had gotten out. Not worried here in Tx. Linda

Receiving, Jessamy, receiving.

We're not talking about Pati Cook's lost HUGS, by the way. No one was more sick about it than me.

If you have something to say, say it. Enough already.
