Just to let you know

I know that someone in this group has started a yahoo group(supposedly an extension of RCS) Well, it really can not be an extension of RCS, as I think that is something we will all have to vote on. Since RCS consists of about

50-80 regular posters. I personally think that we should not jump the gun on this, as there are so many RCS'ers that like the newsgroup, the way it is, and the way they have access to it. We have ( over the pass few days) collected allot of names that would like to be included in an RCS yahoo group "IF" we need to move. But right now, I feel we should just stay right here. We are not being threatened. So, someone comes in and asks us if we can make this group official, then allot of crazy talk happens, he drops the idea, and now we are left alone. For now. That is not to say things are not going to change 6 months from now, but I think that is a decision that can be made when it arises. I really would like to know what you all think about this subject, as it concerns all of us! Thanks for listening!

No need to discuss the group. I am removing it from yahoo shortly and am removing myself from the group just as soon as I finish the swaps I'm currently in (don't want to flake on anyone). My apologies for assuming that others might want a place outside this newsgroup to gather and for assuming that this group was, like other newsgroups, not run by any particular individual. I am very hurt and angry with all that has happened here and am on my way out. Again, my apologies.

As I explained in my letter to you............ MC, Selena, Patty and I are collecting names for another group, just in case we need too. But we would much rather keep the group as is so that it will be there so when new people do find us, it will not be a problem and we can welcome them as we did when you arrived a short time ago. You are a part of "WE" but "WE" consists of 40-80 other people that need to make this decision together. And it should also be moderated by some newer people and some that have been on this group for a very long time. As we have seen newbies come and go. That does not mean we do not welcome them. Gosh, it is great having new members with new ideas! So if we had to move ( and we hopefully do not) we would all decide what to do.This group is definitely not run by one individual! It is run by everyone. I am not saying this to hurt anyone, I have gotten allot of emails saying they would like to see this group stay together. As a member of 5 years, I would too! It has been a home away from home that I have had allot of fun with! Meeting new people, Gosh I now have a very, very good friend in California because of this group! I personally would just like to see this group stay together, wherever we are! HUGS

CC no need to leave ---- at different times people will mention other yahoo groups -- it doesnt mean people will leave here because of it. I myself joined one a while back that was brought up in the newsgroup but unsubscribed due to not being able to fulfill the requirements of posts- im still here though never left just was an added interest group. As long as you dont have the RCS name on it I cant see a problem. As for the cross posters - they will get bored and go away -- this is the worst I have seen it by far in the over a year I have been posting. Shaz ( who doesnt like to see anyone hurt)

Shelley My thoughts are that yes we should stay here. The ease with which we post is great. BUT IMO anyone is entitled to make a yahoo group I just dont think it is right to assume the RCS name. You have had experience in doing the yahoo group thing so I dont think we should be upset over someone else doing it as long as the name isnt used. The loyal posters will always be here and besides there are others that are on other groups as well including some we have lost here, I guess its part of life. Some come some go and some stay.

Just my 2c hope I dont offend not my intention. Shaz

I agree Shaz! I know that i am on a yahoo group with all the ladies that started out here in the beginning! But, we keep it separate from RCS.

I'm just lurking here after all the hoo-haa about the RFD (I saw all this first in news.groups). I don't scrapbook and I do think it is in your best interests to make your group an 'official' part of the big eight groups. I mainly wanted to see what the group was like because I do have friends that scrapbook but they can't get the group, as they use a server that won't add the group until it's official (they don't like using google).

The comment I wanted to make was that, I think being upset about a yahoo group using the rcs name is kind of ironic, considering that part of the fuss was due to the fact that this group is using a 'big eight' name unofficially.

Cheers,

Good afternoon CC,

I have to say, I have read through a great many of the posts revolving around this issue, and I think what you did was absolutely the best thing to do.

Many members of a usenet newsgroup have internet based forums made up for those same people to go gather in privately. It's quite common to do.

It was a most excellent move on your part. It makes it very easy to post more private information that one may not want the public to see/read. It also gives you a place to gather to discuss any problems that arise within the newsgroup, privately. Makes it much easy than emails.

Imo, you all should keep both.

Cheers.

You all are making too big of a deal out of it. CC has every right to create a yahoo group if CC so chooses. If people don't wish to visit it, so be it. But it does not, by any means, have to be a group decision.

There is absolutely no reason you all cant have both. It appears that what the problem is with the yahoo group is someone has their panties in a bunch over "who runs it". If you're all friends, it doesn't matter and shouldn't be an issue.

And why can't it have the RCS name on it? Please, do tell. Who are you to say it can't? And please, do explain to me why you have a problem with that.

It can take a loooong time once you're on the list.

Well, it is just usenet.

Someone listen to this poster. Such person knows what they be talkin' about.

Without stepping on any toes, I personally think that the Yahoo group was a good idea. And that's exactly what I believe it is - A Personal Opinion. If there are people that want to join the Yahoo group, then go ahead and join. It will not effect this newsgroup at all, as we all love this group and will continue to share with each other... the yahoo group (in my opinion) is just another place where we can all gather and share our ideas, thoughts, feelings, photos etc...

I would be disappointed if something like this was to drive out members of this "supportive, kind and caring newsgroup" that we all share!

Why not leave the choice up to the individuals... there will always be RCS.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Skye.

Ok, we obviously DO need to take this group to a private yahoo group!

You should. Not that you should give up this newsgroup. But you should have a "second" place to go. A hidey hole. A private place for just you all where you all can discuss who you even want invited. No trolls. No Phillup's coming in throwing in their 2 cents worth. All private.

Please don't leave cc. We can all post to other groups and this one too. I wouldn't know to act on another group but I do have a Yahoo account. Don't let your feeling be hurt. No one here would want you to be hurt. Hug,

Sabrina :-)
