When Hug blocks are not used

I responded in kind. One gets what one gives from me.

I particpate often in the annual raffle quilt project the airedale rescue people make as a fundraiser. We take our time, we discuss theme, color etc. There have been times when odd numbers of blocks arrive, when someone doesn't get theirs done, and others jump in and send a second or whatever. Our group uses the extras for overflow quilts, wall hangings, pillows, totes. Sometimes my block is in the main quilt which usually brings in som $8000 to $10000. Sometimes its in an overflow quilt. I don't get invested in which quilt it gets into. I don't worry about whether I'm in the top row, dead center, or down on the edge.

I make my blocks to raise money so that abused, neglected or

otherwise homeless airedales can get food, shelter, medicine, and a second chance at a good life. God knows right now nobody needs to explain how needy animal rescue can suddenly become. I saw an airedale neck deep in water on a CBS story yesterday. I willed those reporters to put that dog in their boat. I don't think they did. It didn't end up on the register this morning.

What care I which project my block is in? I made it as part of a team effort for a good purpose. The team of volunteers made a choice where to put it. And the final results are always spectacular.

I have an airedale in foster care right now in what we hope will be his forever family. Jack came to use last November. I fed him (all 95 pounds of him) for 10 months, provided him medical care, trained him, loved him enough but not so much he'd not think the next family was better. I could afford it. But not everybody could. Without money, Jack might have ended up euthanized.

I make quilt blocks to prevent that.

I am very sorry your feelings were hurt. Very sorry. I do not understand though why the charitable thought I assume was behind your effort is somehow damaged by the fortunate situation that resulted in so many responses that more than one person might receive help because of an abundance of giving.

Although I do understand that feelings are not ruled by the brain and logic is not ruled by the heart, I would hope your heart could be healed some by rethinking WHY you feel as you do.

I'm only trying to say in many different ways that when there is abundance and division into groups occurs, second group is not the same as second rate. I think thats what you are reacting to. Second group can also be "works better with the right hand pile than with the left hand pile of blocks." Wonderful!
