When Hug blocks are not used

My block was the 3rd one sent - it should have been included. It was an intentional act to omit it. Send me all the blocks and top and I will complete it so all the contributers will be included.
You are right on track Ms. Black Rose - I think my request must have touched a nerve. Why else be so defensive??? Just send the top and all the blocks to me. I will complete it with all the blocks sent by the contributers so all are represented.
But that's the point "all the work of loving hands" were not included. My block was received prior to the top even being assembled and was intentionally omitted. SEND THE TOP AND ALL THE BLOCKS TO ME. I will complete it with all the blocks and have it quilted by my machine quilter.
EXACTLY!! Send the top and left blocks to me. I WILL COMPLETE IT WITH ALL THE BLOCKS.
SEND IT TO ME - along with all the extra blocks. I will see that it is completed with all the blocks from all the contributers and will send it to my machine quilter.
I haven't been involved in many HUGs, but as far as I'm concerned, whatever I send, be it fabric, completed blocks, batting or whatever, is for the owner of the HUG to use as she/he sees fit. Once it's left my possession, it's not "mine" any more. Morag
I have refrained. I was on vacation, and only recently had time to drop in for chocolate in my favorite neighborhood. I am also aware that I have been unable to participate in the HUGs (I anticipated having my sewing room back over the summer). So, my first thought was to keep silent.
But the pain in your post, Snigdibbly, and in Susan's withdrawal from the group, has really concerned me.
Snigs... are you absolutely sure Susan "didn't like my block and didn't WANT to use it for reasons unknown to me or this group"? Or is it an assumption on your part? When faced with an outpouring and an overflowing number of blocks, would *YOU*, as a quilter, have used them in the order they came in the mail? Is that what should be expected when blocks are sent for a hug? And, if using "ALL the blocks" "WITHOUT PREJUDICE" results in a quilt too big to be "hugged" with or used, is that what the others who sent in abundant blocks would wish? Some might think that rather than giving one overly large quilt to Tyler, their block contributions would be better used in a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quilt for another serviceman, as was being done.
We have a hugger who has volunteered already to quilt Tyler's hug so it can be made any size the number of blocks allows. I have put her in touch with the hug hostess already. But thanks!
Karen, Queen of Squishies
I will gladly take this project on and finish the quilt
I have volunteered to complete the Tyler Hug with ALL the blocks. Susan just needs to ship it all to me and I will see that it is done.
I know Connie from another group - I sent my blocks in the color and size requested. My block was RECEIVED PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY OF THE TOP and was intentionally left out. I sent it early specifically so my blocks would be INCLUDED.
Yeah?? Heaven forbid I do something nice for some of ya'll!! What a crime. Aught to be jailed for that one. I'll go to confession - okay? LOL!!!
She refused to respond to all email inquiries sent privately and when she didn't respond after several attempts I requested she return it. The picture of the Tyler Hug block is in my Webshots album for all to see. It is the size and color she requested and was received PRIOR to assembly. What conclusion would you draw? Her only response to me was done publicly on this forum and I was left with no alternative but to respond on this forum. She said she would accept volunteers to complete the top and I volunteered.
Sigh...
I have been in this group (mostly lurking) for years. I know, Snigdibbly, that you are kind and giving, contributing words of encouragement and loving acts. You asked what conclusion I would draw...
I imagine Susan with an abundance of blocks. I imagine her being a bit overwhelmed and awed as she looks at all of the expressions of love she has custody of.
I imagine her smiling as she fondles the blocks, dealing them like cards on her design wall (or floor) moving them around, as quilters are wont to do.
I imagine her delight when she realizes she has MORE THAN ENOUGH blocks, fabric, and good wishes to finish a quilt for Tyler. I imagine her concern as to how she should best expand this circle of love and well wishes.
I imagine her wanting to finish quickly... to use the resources she has (even though it restricts quilt size) to make sure that the love and well wishes of the RCTQ group are made manifest physically to Connie and her son.
So no, Snigdibbly, I would not draw the conclusion that your block was not acceptable. Neither would I draw the conclusion that your emails were ignored. I might suspect your email to Susan ended up in 'Bulk Mail', or that she does not regularly check her email, but, like me, always remembers to drop by and check our neighborhood post.
I imagine Susan sorry that you were hurt. There are some, who have posted, who consider their hug blocks as 'gifts with no strings' and who are not offended when they are used for a separate, similar, charitable purpose. There are also some, who design and craft blocks with a specific person in mind. Sometimes we might overlook the fact that another person feels differently than we do.
So, my conclusion is that Susan is one of those who give without strings, and had no idea that by not using your block in Tyler's quilt top, she was causing you pain. My conclusion is that she really was surprised at your response.
My concern is that you cannot let it go. Please, rest assured and happy. The Queen of Squishies has taken over and your block will be used in the quilt-thing that will be sent to Tyler.
SNIGDIBBLY, just what is it that has "really" offended you?
I can understand you wanting your square back and from what I've read, it is being sent back to you. Are you feeling rejected or something? That doesn't make sense because people here appreciate you.
Are you feeling that you've some how lost control of your quilting? You're messages are sending mixed messages, they truly are. You're feeling let down and sad because your square wasn't included and now you are sounding demanding and even yelling....and yet you state that you are not mad. Your posts are coming across, at least to me, as being quite snide.
How can you state that you "know" that you were intentionally left out when Susan has stated otherwise?
And now you are saying to send the quilt and extra squares to you and that you'll finish them. Just what are you trying to say with that?
Why did that even have to be posted to this ng? Personally, that conversation should have taken place off this air space and would have been a good opportunity for you and Susan to patch things up.
It can be painful but just becasue someone is first in line doesn't mean that they're going to get what they want. Ask any school age child.
I hope Susan choses to stay. And I hope this silly childish fighting on this ng goes away.

I sent my blocks to Susan. SNIG, you've written so many comments on all this and while I understand you being upset, you should just drop this here and now.
This quilt was to go to one of our brave soldiers who are doing their jobs keeping us and our children and our grandchildren safe.
Let's stop the stupid snide remarks and get on with life.

She asked for forgiveness for hurting my feelings and I gave it readily and freely. The queen of Squishies is seeing that mine - as well as everyone elses - is included in Tylers Hug. I am grateful. Far as I am concerned that settles it. I have my prettiest purple asbestos panties on and feel no pain. LOL!!
Nope. I just wanted my block included in the Tyler Hug - everything and everyone got their oar in and made some nasty remarks that I responded in kind to - HRH Queen of Squishies is now in charge of making the Tyler Hug - using all the blocks and I'm as happy as can be. Answer your questions?
I responded in kind to hateful remarks made to me. I am nobodys victim and will confront anyone is ugly to me. I defended myself and can promise to do the same should it occur in the future. I'm no wet noodle. Thanks for your opinion on the matter.
