Where is everyone - no messages since 13 November.

I hope everyone is OK - maybe they are doing quilting - I hope so.

A question, where can I send some money to for the "Sandy" people? I would like to help in some small way.

Regards,

I sometimes have a problem with missing messages; and I was just about to post a message to see if my 'connections' were working! So, I was relieved to see your posts Di. Unusually for me, I didn't feel I had anything to say >g< No other reason for my 'absence'. I always check and read - several times a day. I guess we are reaching that really busy few weeks, when a lot has to be packed into a very short time!

So, I'll say 'Happy Thanksgiving Week' to our US friends, in case this week whizzes by at the same speed as the last several >g< . In message , Di Maloney writes

I had a "chat" with tech support from my ISP yesterday to find out if they ahd changed the access procedure. Today I realized that I should have posted a message...

As to your other question,

American Red Cross

has an online donation option.

An ecumenical option is Church World Service

There are undoubtedly other good choices and perhaps some others will suggest them.

Maybe the easiest way to send money to help the Hurricane Sandy folks would be the Red Cross. We were never much impressed with them until they were carrying hot meals to our kin post Katrina. Every meal included a cookie, an apple and a puppy biscuit and they had to drive through some awful muck just to get there. We were grateful for their help when we could not. Polly

Because of bad health I have not posted often the past 3 years. All my sewing has been the small stuff with making baby things for family, and the seemingly never ending mending. I real RCTQ once a day to see what is going on. Later, Barbara

Di,

It also looks as though Habitat for Humanity is another possible recipient.

I am gearing up to have 4 days of sewing and organizing. There was a slim c hance of going to my sister's place in northern Calif for the holiday, exce pt she never invited me. Each year I make holiday ornaments [usually beaded ones]; this year I am making a bunch of the shooting star ornaments from C arol Doak's yahoo! group. There is also a blue star piece to do for my neph ew in Afghanistan and one more baby quilt to do for a co-worker.

That's what is go> I hope everyone is OK - maybe they are doing quilting - I hope so. >

I'm glad I'm not the only one to not see messages. I had just switched to aioe.org for my news server & I thought maybe that was the problem.

There are a lot of agencies doing "Sandy" relief. Some of them are the American Red Cross , the Salvation Army in the U.S. , or Lutheran Disaster Response

Thanks for the suggestions on where to send money - I will do that this week.

Very glad to see you are all very busy and I must say that sewing is a priority together with family history DVD that I am trying to do for my family.

Cheers, Di

Howdy! ...in beautiful north Texas where we've just had the perfect blend of cool breeze and bright sunshine: lovely! This was Cruise for Food weekend, when we collect food from most of our neighbors (in my old PT CRUISEr, of course) for the local food bank. Great success. The car will be full tomorrow as I trundle to the warehouse to unload the goods. We have very generous neighbors.

Last week saw the Finishing of several projects: the house exterior was painted (major job) by a great group of people, the 2-story entry (interior) was patched & painted a bright yellow (good morning, sunshine!), and the chimney sweep installed a new cap w/ spark arrestor (the old cap blew off a couple of years ago - that was some wind!. This all involved much moving of furniture, replacement & new placement of furniture, and lots of cleaning- I didn't put that on the calendar! But now it's done and I can go back to quilting. There's a nearly-Finished top on the dining table, to be completed & sandwiched before the turkey goes in the oven, Thursday.

Relief for hurricane victims: several reputable agencies are helping. I'm sending quilts to a friend whose family lost their home due to flooding. Our church has been contributing to our denomination's regular department for this kind of aid, including Church World Service & their Blanket Fund:

Quilting and for those of us in the U.S., getting ready for Thanksgiving!

I have been sewing my fingers off for the last week. Found out on

11/10 that our Macy's parade pilot's wife (say that 3 times fast) is expecting their first child, due just before Christmas. Silly me decided they needed a baby quilt. Well, we only see him on Thanksgiving day (and maybe a practice or 2 beforehand). So...that Tues. I managed to buy, wash, cut and piece the quilt. Wed. got it sandwiched and started hand quilting. I have a bit over 1 border left to quilt then bind and wash. My fingers are like pincushions at the moment. BUT, it will be done for Thanksgiving morning despite lots of errands and other things this week. Was working on another handquilting project before that - a lap quilt for US - but that has obviously taken a back seat for the moment.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

We bought a house. Closed on that the day before my son got married last month. It has been pretty crazy around here. The house is a project that will probably run for many months. Lots of work to do before we move. It should keep me distracted for awhile. Then getting the house we are in ready to sell in the springtime will be some more work. The dog had surgery last week too. It is some work keeping her close so she doesn't pull out sutures. She got 2 of them but the rest are holding. My simple little boring life got derailed! I did get some quilting in last night. I always feel better when I can take a bit of time to sew. Taria

Howdy! Congrats on the house, Taria! It comes with a quilter's room, doesn't it? ...well, that would be every room in my house, so what's the difference? A project house, huh? Good luck with that. I had the painters and gutter guys here last week; it felt like I was moving, w/ so much Stuff displaced. 2 houses for you to tend to: pop your head up every now & then so we can see you. How far is the next house from the current house?

Best wishes to your little dog, too. Oy! - what the animals put us through!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Sandy. This house is kind of like that too but there is a specific room and it has a view. Trading the pool for the view. No work but a little window cleaning to enjoy the view. Pool too much trouble. It is only 9 miles away so that should make it easy. I am getting tired of dh reminding me that I wanted a project. ; ) Dog gets what is left of her stitches out Monday. Today there was a notable upbeat attitude from her. That makes me happy! Taria, feeling kind of stuffed like yesterdays turkey!
