I have a 1950 model exactly like that one. It's a GREAT machine- sturdy and sews a lovely stitch. I love listening to it's low powerful-sounding purr. If you have the room then go for it! It would be an excellent back-up machine for you.

I have the same cabinet on a Singer Golden Touch and Sew machine, early

Not for that amount of cash. They go for less than half that around here. There are a lot of scams on Craig's list, and sometimes bad things happen to people who go to buy an item at some stranger's home. If you decide it's a good deal for your area, please take someone with you when you go to pick up the item and don't pay until pick up. Debra in VA See my quilts at:

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have two spots in the house where I think this would work, it's it being in a cabinet that appeals to me, even if it's not the original cabinet. I emailed the seller with a load of questions, mostly about measurements, so I'll see what we hear back. I think the spanner in the works for this particular one could be the distance, it's not too far, but far enough that I wouldn't want to drive by myself (apart from any other considerations) and if both DH and I go that means the kids too, which loses the ability to fold the back seats down, which I think would be necessary to fit it in.

I looked online for any pricing info, so far I've only found more expensive and not including a cabinet of any sort. The manual alone seems to be about 20 dollars.

The cabinet will make sewing...even quilting ....so much easier. It is great to have the sewing surface of the machine flush with a nice large area !!!

Yes, yes, yes!!! Having the machine flush with the work surface will make an enormous difference in your sewing, and for FMQ, I think it's a virtual necessity. When I have a really big quilt to work on, I move the cabinet next to my dining table so it can support the weight of the work.

The 15-91 is a great machine for quilting, and takes the nice big 15 class bobbin you can change without taking the work out from under the needle. It'll sew through anything you can get under the foot. That looks like a nice solid cabinet, too. If it had a knee controller, it'd be perfect ;^)

That looks to be a Singer 15-91 and a gorgeous one at that.

If you don't have one definately go for it - they are super.

Taria: Yes, that cabinet looks out of synch with the SM. I'd guess 1966-1974 for cabinet. PAT

If you think the price is a bit too high, you could make an offer and maybe negotiate a lower price.

ah well, it got sold this morning, when I told DH about it, he said I should have already emailed, instead I waited a few hours! It's probably for the best, but I think I might try and track local adverts a bit more from now on!

Hi, Anne

I'm the person who bought this baby and it is nice. Sorry that there was only one to buy. And it does have a knee controller so it's a dandy. It came with the original sale of receipt dated 1952 and sold for $25.95 with the original owners name on the recipt. Lot's of attachments and a button hole maker for 4 different sizes.

I have an older (1910) Singer sewing cabinet that belonged to my Great Grandmother. I also have the sewing maching, a treadle, but no footwork. So I'm taking my "new" sewing machine out of the '70's cabinet and putting in into my old cabinet. It will fit perfectly.

that's the link to what my sewing cabinet looks like that belonged to my great grandmother. The two bottom doors are missing but the rest is in tack.

The woman who sold the machine told me she had many many offers....in fact she used the word "floods" of emails.

Yes, I learned about the machine here; I learned it still was for sale and so I went to buy it. I learned about this machine two days after Anne had poster her original post as I don't check my NG's every day. I couldn't believe it was still available and when I learned that it was, I went to check it out, liked what I saw and bought it.
