You all should have warned me! ;-)

Okay, fellow quilters, you all really should have warned me. You see, I am almost never around any children. I don't have any children, and I am an only child. So you can see my experience with children is really quite limited.

This past weekend, we had a mini-family reunion, and I got reacquainted with a cousin I hadn't seen in years. He brought his wife and children, whom I had never met. His wife is a warm, laid back person. The children were very busy, but quite sweet. And you see it's the sweet part that got to me. I spent some one-on-one time with his 5 year old daughter. Omigosh, what an imp! She and I spent time looking at quilt blocks. I had a stack of blue blocks and a stack of purple blocks to show. She liked the blue blocks, but purple is her favorite color. I knew I was in big trouble when she gives me this really cute smile and shyly suggests that I could finish the purple quilt for her. HA! At that moment, I knew there was no doubt that quilt was meant for her, and immediately agreed. Her enthusiasm was overwhelming. And of course, being just five, she suggested that maybe I could get it done for her the next day so she could take it home with her. LOL! What a delight.

Now you're in for it! Make a quilt for one, you have to make for all. I come from a large family, all my brothers and sisters have children and some have grandchildren now...........I will have to live a long time to make quilts for them all! LOL

I smiled, Michelle. I get the same feelings with little ones. There's just something about them - gets right to the bottom of the heart doesn't it!! - family or not. The quilt will be especially nice for you to do, because you will have a little person in mind all the time you are fixing it. So - did you finish it yet? >g< . In message , Michelle writes

ROFLOL - Ha! They've got you now! This is the same feeling I get when I walk into my Preppy (1st year of school) classroom. To be greeted by happy shouts of "Sharon!" and "Hello Pumpkin / Blossom / Sweetie" (my standard greetings) and many of them running up for hugs is beyond words. It is a magical feeling.

Can I'va quilt too? LOL

ROFL - you really thing it will stop at ONE quilt? You make for one and the rest will want too. That's a rule of nature!

BTW - beware the wide-eyed request for a fairy dress with wings. It's on the way!

Oh yes, that thought has occurred. Actually, I made a quilt for her older brother as a baby, but he's 7 now.... And then there is her baby brother. I maybe in deep trouble. ;-)

Did I finish it yet? HA! However, the fact that she even offered to stay and help me finish it has kind of spurred me on. The quilt needs 3 more blocks to make a total of 20. I've been going through my stash already....

Oh my, you're surrounded by the little cuties!

As for you getting a quilt... AHEM! Besides, this five year old has me on deadline--AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. :-) She told me it was very hard to wait.

Probably not. She has both an older brother and a younger brother. I am consoling myself with the idea that I made the older brother a baby quilt, so he hasn't totally been without.

You

They live in another state, so I *think* I'm relatively safe with that one.

Oh yes. And I'd be happy to have just 1/10 of their energy.
