A scrapper's worst nightmare

My once a month scrap night got moved to the 3rd Friday of every month. One of my gals said she was just too busy during the day on the 1st Friday of every month and couldn't arrive on time and was frazzled when she got there. Wanting it to be an enjoyable night for all we move it. Last night was the first night since the change. An hour and half later the gal shows up. I'm a bit peeved as she's late about 95% of the time to anything we do, but scrapnights I fix dinner and have to keep every warm for her. Plus there's just this feeling of "Where is she?" angst.

She arrives looking frazzled and starts her tale of why she's so late. As she was leaving her house to only be 30 minutes late her eyelet container falls out of her bag and opens up face down on the carpet! Nearly in tears she plops a sandwich baggie about 1/2 full of eyelets and carpet lint on the table. She was able to save a few small containers from the larger one from dumping. So, us Scrap Gals say, "Oh honey go get some dinner we will all work on sorting this out and you'll be back together in no time." My friend Catherine said she's take over the job that it didn't seem as bad as it looked. So, before my friend got back with her plate Catherine had nearly everything at least sorted out.

For years I've kept a large rubber band around my container as I've feared the very same thing happening to me. I've been lax about my rubber band as of late. I better get it out!

The poor lady! At least she had a good excuse for being so late this time... I don't use eyelets but I use stacks of brads, and I bought a lovely purple embellishment keeper to put them in, with little strip containers that slide into clear plastic holders and then the whole thing clips shut, so they're triply secure. I wish I could get another one of these but they don't seem to make them any more :(

OOOOHHHH!! I know how you feel about people being punctual, wheher it is work or play. I believe it is totally a lack of common courtesy or respect. I wouldn't keepthe food warm. Tell her you did not know how long it would be and it had to be cleaned up and put away.

(slapping self!) DOH! I forgot,YOU have that affliction known as BHS (big heart syndrome!)

Was it your carpet the makeup fell on?

As for those cotton picking plastic capped THINGS that various things come in,especially those that are in multiple "piles", one full of glitter taught me. I have stuff either in litlle drawers or capped glass jelly jars like you get in "upscale" places to stay - LOL! I have a collection of them now - humm, maybe I could collect them for RAKS - :)

Hope you had a prodctive time anyhow!

I know what you mean about being always late, guess some folks are just like that all the time. Poor lady, I'm glad she had you guys to help out!

As for the eyelet/brad spill paranoia? I suffer from it too, so I got those craft mates that have individual compartments and that you have to push a slide if you want to get the containers to even be able to snap open. They came in a black "Craft Mate" tote with 5 containers in the tote. I thing they were like $17 or something at Micahels with my 40% off coupon, but that was a couple of years ago. I not all that worried about spills anymore!

I've got a craftmate too - a purple double-sided one. It's great, isn't it... I got it for my birthday when they first came out, and it holds all my brads safely tucked away.

I have the Craft Mate also and just love it! You can also by more inserts for it. It holds nine or ten I know because I keep needing more room...lol I would recomend this to any one. I had the cropper hopper embellishment box before and didn't like it. There was a space between the top and compartments and my embellishments kept getting mixed up. This is so much better. I was thinking about my new item from HSN from EYELETS ETC. I love the case since the tool fits in it w/all the eyelets in separate compartments but they don't lock securely like the CRAFT MATES do.

Eye-Lets 450+ piece Setter Kit with Storage Case - Item: 690-035 HSN Price: $24.85

I have lots of these CRAFT MATES containers....I bought mine MICHAEL'S the plain black canvas case...then found the pretty PURPLE suede like case in AC MOORE so I bought a few of them too.

I have sorted lots of embellishments, beads, confetti, etc. in them.

The large containers I sorted lots of those foam sticker pieces in.

The only bad thing about these when I was sorting the Donna Dewberry tiny gems they got lost in the hole where the compartment closes. Since they were very, very small.

I have an EMBOSSER/PUNCHER not the EK SUCCESS EMPUNCHLAR I have that also. But I forget the name of the other company who sold it to EK SUCCESS well I have that set w/the board you can punch anywhere on the page. Using the big containers I have each die that doesn't fit in the case w/the tool...I just wished they made these handy containers a bit bigger. I have been organizing lots of things w/these.

Craft Mates Ezy Sort Tray

Introducing the easiest way to sort, count, and organize small objects for scrapbooking and crafts! Start by simply pouring objects onto the tray, and then sort however you would like: by color, size, shape, style, and more! Sort one pile directly onto the tray and the other right into the chute. When you're done, first pour off the pile from the tray, and then turn the Ezy Sort Tray around and pour out the pile from the chute. Easy!

I haven't seen this tray yet in MICHAEL'S or AC MOORE but I know HSN sells it.

I use a bead storage container that I got from Wal-Mart. It was only around $4.00-5.00 It's its a container that holds 10 little contains. The little containers are just a tad smaller than a tic tac box. with a lid that pops open. I seen Tammy's when we went to the scrapbook barn last year. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a couple shortly after.

I use the bead storage containers that I found in AC Moore. For travelling I use empty tic tac boxes that I glued together with repositionable tape.

As far as being late, it is just rude and inconsiderate to the others who actually made it on time not only do they get to eat together but then have to wait for the late one to eat in order to join in. I'd say next time don't keep the food warm. Just say "oh we ate at 5:00 and now we are scrapping sorry." What are you a resturant?

You know I actually did just that. I had turned the oven off at 7pm (arrival time is 6:30). Then at 8 pm when she arrived and told us her whole eyelet story having the gal to have a detail be (and I was leaving at 6:30 so I'd ONLY be 30 minutes late) she asked about dinner. I said everything is in the kitchen. Make yourself at home and I kept on scrapping. She came back with a plate of food not as wonderous as ours had been, because she didn't know where the fresh salsa, guacamole or the homemade carnitas was and I didn't say a word.

Oh dear! That would be a bad nightmare. I'm glad you all were able to help her sort them out. Maybe she'll be a little more on time now!

Oh goodness! I bought some things from cropper hopper that are small embellishment holders that I put mine in. I didn't buy the holder that they go in, but did buy a small plastic box that was used for something :) and put them in there. It works great! :)
