Made it back in the wee hours of Sunday morning after a 4-hour delay (over 3 hours sitting on the plane at the gate or on the runway in a hot plane as we waited for them to first fix the engine & then for a line of thunderstorms to pass by). Had put in 40 hours of work by Thursday, so lots of extra time at work this week, just trying to catch up & hang on with ongoing work. My few spare moments have been filled with reading the new Harry Potter book (picked it up in the airport the day it came out & had a quarter of it read before I got on the plane & half read before we landed).

Good vacation, if busy. Took the redeye east on Saturday the 2nd, arriving in Virginia after a stopover in Newark. Met dad at the airport & immediately drove to Ohio. (Glad we made it safely, since I was having a hard time staying awake the last 100 miles or so). Spent a few days there visiting cousins & the house my grandparents built in 1915 (& lived in for 50 years). After a few quick days back in Virginia (the house is grew up in is for sale, but I didn't get a chance to see the inside :::pout:::), dad & I headed for the Outer Banks of NC with my aunt, uncle & 13 cousins). Had some lovely thunderstorms at the beach (I missed those, but could have done w/o the ones delaying my flight west on Saturday).

Did a little traditional scrapbooking with a cousin who's been doing it since before it became "in vogue". And, thanks to you, Dave, I had some paper & an eyelet setter to contribute. She'd never used eyelets, so after I used 4 on one of my pages, I taught her how. Made 4 pages myself. It was challenging, because we were using digital photos & had no printer, so were making the pages while looking at the pics on my laptop screen.

We didn't get as many pages done as we wanted (my goal was to have each person [except the toddler & infant] make at least 1 page. The cousin who scrapbooks & I each did 4 pages, 3 other cousins each did 1 page. Oh, well. They can make more after they get the pics to work with.

Thanks for thinking of me, Dave, & for the scrapbooking supplies & pics from our gathering here in SoCal.

Hey Dave... my emails doesn't seem to be getting through to you. I don't seem to have received a reply to the last 3, so... can you let me know when you plan on visiting again? I want to make sure that I am here and not gone somewhere the next time you come by!

Thanks,

M-C
