I'm not Azzy, but the record high for this particular "day" may be 112, but the record high was 122 degrees. It has been miserable here!

You didn't forget who, I just piped in about the heat. I think Azzy still does still live here in AZ but I don't think she checks in very often. We stay cool but not going outside and running the air at 76 degrees. My first summer with our new air conditioner and it works great!

Sorry, I did not get on at all last week. ( Victoria was at camp in Prescott) and I did not want to tie up the phone line, in case anything happened. Worry wart that I am...lol. It has been really hot here. Today we are supposed to hit 114...tomorrow

118. Honestly though once it gets past 112...you don't feel the differences in temp. This is record highs for this time of year...but not overall. Normally we hit these temps in August. Hopefully we will get our monsoons soon....it makes it humid, but gives us a break from the scorching heat. We stay cool by staying inside....kind of a bummer for an only child during summer vacation though :-(. The record high for the state is held by Lake Havasu City ( where I grew up) with a high of 128 ! Our lows are only 92-94.

Sounds miserable Azzy! I remember living in Tucson back in the early to mid

80's and remember how hot it was, though the lack of humidity helped. Remember watching the monsoons come in over the mountians. Really pretty and interesting.

Stay cool as possible, and scrap a bit, hopefully DD had a great time at camp!

Oh I love monsoon season. The are such magical storms. My husband and I like to sit out on the back patio and watch them. Some may think we are crazy, but they are amazing to watch...I am not afraid of them at all. I look forward to that time of year.

I have been scrapping quite a bit...since it is summer and I am off ...I have turned the dining table into my craft table and am trying to get as much done as I can. I have done 3, 2 page layouts...which is really good for me. It takes me about a week to do a 2 page layout. I sit and look at the pictures and pick a color scheme....then lay it down and walk away until inspiration hits for the lay out ( could be a couple hours, could be a couple days..lol) then I come back and stare at everything.....crop some of the pictures....move stuff around...get frusterated because it isn't coming together and walk away again. This continues as I do a little more each time. It is normally the 4th time I sit down that everything falls into place and then I put it all together. It is definately a process for me...lol.

{ hopefully DD had a great time at camp!}

She had a blast! It was really hard for me....I had planned on going with, but things didn't work out ( alot of things haven't been working out this summer). She has never been away from home for more than a weekend. Everyone kept saying....Oh how nice, you get a break for a bit....or aren't you enjoying your break....my answer...no, not really. It is hard when you have an only child. The house was quiet, and lonely and boring. I found myself just getting through the days...knowing she was having a great time! She came home with so many wonderful stories :-) I am excited to develop the pics she took while there. Great experience for her....hard one for Mom.

My oldest DD went to camp for the first time when she was 9. Not for the weekend, not for a week, but for a two week session. It was the one she wanted so bad - Girl Scout Camp. I finally gave in and took her. It was the first time she had been away for any length of time. I stood around at the camp for a while and some of the other girls were crying and hanging on their moms. My daughter finally told me it was okay and I could leave now. I cried all the way home and home was two hours away. It was two weeks of hell. They don't allow phone calls except for emergencies. I finally called one of the staff personel I knew that routinely visited the camp for inspections and she told me DD was fine and having a blast. We received no postcards or letters. (had sent sase's along). When she got home camp was all she could talk about. She said it rained and ruined her sase's, but she was just too busy to write. She became my traveler. Went to camp for two weeks every summer until she was too old, and then she became a counselor there. She spent two weeks on an Indian Reservation one year, and worked as a counselor for a month in MO at a camp for girls with disabilities. Went to every GS activity she could get to. Even though it is hard on us, I think it's a marvelous experience for our children. She has friends all over the US she met through GS. I didn't start scrappin until she was in her 20's. But all of her pics of her GS years are in photo safe slot albums. I am always after her to jot down memories on acid free paper and stick them inbetween the photos. Sandy

Sandy, I think that is how my daughter will be as well. I was very codependant on my Mother. So much so that when I was asked a question by an adult I looked to my mother for the answer. I wanted my daughter to be independant. I honestly think it is part of her personality...but I helped to reinforce it. It is hard on me....but I know it is the best thing for her ...to grow up as an independant, self motivated, young woman.

When I asked her if she missed us, she said " I missed Jade" Jade is one of our dogs...she and Victoria are close...but jeesh...I figured she would miss us a little...LOL

Silly of me, I didn't realize Azzy was there either, or she could have met up with Amy and I when I visited last March! Bummer!
