please pray for my princess

I don't know if you believe in pray but this morning my dog Princess got up and started walking and yelping... we don't know what is wrong and don't have the money for a vet visit and xrays... I'm thinking its something with her back or hips. It's going to be a few weeks until we have the money for a vet visit. Please just pray she has a pinched nerve or something and it goes a way, she has been really docile today and I'm worried. She is my baby and I'd trade in all the rest for her. I'm so scared it's something bad... she hates stairs and we have alot of them here. She won't let me pick her up either. I might just sleep on the couch so she can be near me. I just can't handle this right now. She is my baby and I'd be lost without her.

Oh Ronni, I"ll say prayers for your Princess. Is there any way you can work out a payment schedule with your vet? I know ours would rather we pay it out than not get treatment for our babies. Praying for Princess.

Oh Ronni, I'll be saying prayers for your Princess. Is there anyway you can workout a payment arrangement for treatment? I know most vets would rather take payment than go without treatment for your baby. Saying prayers for Princess.

Please contact your vet immediately and tell them all of this! I've worked with animals and strays and vets and I've never had one turn me down when I asked if we could work out payment somehow.

Prayers for Princess to recover completely!

Oh RJ! :( I hope everything works out ok! Prayers being said! Why not take the chance that the vet will care more about Princess than having the money right away? You never know for sure till you try! Good luck and I'll pray for the vet to treat her!

Sorry about the double post. My outlook gave me an error message telling me that it didn't send so I sent another.

Sudden onset of pain and lameness could be Lyme disease. If I were you I'd try to scrape together what money you can for an appointment because if you catch it early the prognosis can be good. Of course, it could just be a pulled muscle or sprain, but you probably should get it checked. Many vets will do a payment program, fwiw. Good luck, I hope she feels better.

OH RJ I am so sorry to hear this news!! After all our furbabies as as important to us and so much like kids we would truly be lost! Just remember Kenda and her guinea pig.

Anyhow what is my fear with one of mine more so than the pother. I keep a cc that I do not use for an impending emergency. And NOT scrapping' ones either - LOL!

Anyhow call the local Humane Society or shelter like Pets for people or Petsmart or Petco. They often know of low or no cost places where poor an elderly people can take their pets for at least an evaluation.

So hope this helps and of course from me - A {{{BIG HUG!!}}}

Oh, the poor doggy! If your vet won't agree to a payment schedule than ring around until you find someone who will. The poor dog needs to be seen and a decent vet will care more about the animal than their profit! I know that the first vet clinic we took our cats too demanded cash upfront for anything and overcharged for supplies to boot... so we took the girls to another vet recommended by the shelter and when we had an emergency they said bring her in and we'll worry about the money later!

How is she doing, RJ? Did you find a vet for her?

well she is doing..... gassy as anything and we think it might be a reaction to a food change...being gassy and having pain and having two daughters jumping on you would make anyone grumpy... so we are feeding her different food and spoiling her for now... I called over 10 vets today and none of them will work with us... we will have money in a week or so.. but the timing just sucks... UGH.

thanks for all the well wishes... princess said she'd give you all a licking (kiss) if you were here....

If she is still able to eat and drink, that is a good sign...also, check her gums and tongue, if they are pinkish, that is a good sign too... food changes can be hard on an animal, especially if she's older. You might go back to the original food, and switch it out gradually--for example, if you feed her two cups of food, switch out half a cup for a day or so, then increase the new food to one cup, then 1.5, etc. til all she is getting is the new stuff.

Sorry to hear that the vets wouldn't work with you. >:-( When I had 6 dogs and 4 cats, I had several that worked with me and let me pay out whatever I owed them. Guess vets today aren't as trusting.

RJ, so relieved to hear Princess is doing all right for now. I am appalled at the Vets, though! To me it is the same as turning people away without treatment because they can't pay at present. I believe, in the people case, it is unlawful and they can be cited for it. It is so sad that the people who are dedicated to caring for animals would turn down care for a sick pet. I am appalled!
