Thank you all, we appreciate everything.
This morning, Tom woke up crying and saying he felt like he was dying
- at 545am, just as hubby was getting ready to walk out the door. He said his legs hurt "inside" that it felt like someone punched him in the stomach, that it felt like his head was going to split open and that he was cold - even though he has the warmest room in the house and was sweating.
Took his temp and it was 103.2, so dosed him with the children's motrin (poor kid, I woke him up at 1030 last night to get a second dose in him). Called the on call doc because I was pretty much near tears and hubby was frustrated because we couldn't get clear answers from tom about degree of pain or anything. Doc said to bring him in as soon as they opened for walk-in (815) and they would test him for flu. Poor kid, he doesn't have any strength or anything and is upset that we keep telling him to drink. He isn't on his ADHD meds today with the hopes that he will be hungry enough to eat some jello and maybe applesauce or mashed potatoes later on.
He is now out of school until Monday and I will be getting his schoolwork this afternoon. They aren't really 100% sure what is going on, and I'm not sure what they will suggest if the flu test comes back negative. He is still on the antibiotics while we wait for the throat culture, but of course the meds need to be taken with food.....got him to eat jello to take it.
Basically, they are playing a guessing game based on what is going around through the schools, which is actually quite a LOT of germs and nonsense.
Oh, and when I went to pay our co-pay, I discovered that my wallet was still at home, sitting on the desk where I was going to pay bills this morning....argh.
Will know later this morning about the flu test and will know tomorrow about the strep test...meanwhile, we have to keep him down. He's happy right now - on the living room couch (MUCH cooler than any room upstairs) and watching SpiderMan 3 on the portable dvd player.
Thanks again,
Larisa...hubby is now coughing and not feeling great, Bek had a dry night and dressed herself this morning, and I'm on the 3rd cup of coffee with only a mildly sore throat from yesterday and a low grade fever (assuming it's stress induced)
