Altered CDs

I've been thinking about the Altered CDs, along with altered tins. :-) So once you have an altered CD altered, what do you do with it? I've got a couple CDs here that I'm thinking of altering,....but what do I do with them afterwards?

You can do the christmas ornaments thing, put one of your favorite photo on it and glue the magnet on the back of that cd for your work or your refrig??

I've seen people alter them and put them on their layouts.

Oh that sounds intriguing! So far, I only have 1 CD to play with, but I'll have another one after Easter. Too bad DH tossed that AOL CD we got in the mail several weeks ago! bad DH...bad DH LOL

yep. Never tried it myself but it does look neat. Maybe check out some scrapbook sites for ideas or something. I know 2peas has a lot of ideas on altered cds. Not sure about on the layout itself. But I do know that people put them on their layouts.

Deb I've seen people alter a cd then use like a table top plate holder (looks like an easel) to display it. I altered one then turned it into a clock. It is hanging on the wall by DH's computer nest.

A clock would be a great idea for my dad & DH. A couple years ago, we gave Dad a clock that had these clips around it so he could put pics in the clips. It didn't take long for him to fill it up! LOL I wonder if I could do something along the same lines with an altered CD. Hmmm...

I bought a kit to make a clock out of a cd, but have never gotten around to doing it. And it's so simple and only takes a few minutes to put together. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow. You can leave the cd as it is and just attach the workings to the cd, or you can cover the cd with beads or paper or paint, whatever you like, then add the workings. My daughter just hangs them with fishing line from her ceiling just the way they are.

I have over 400 cds in a bag in my closet and it is growing... I need 700+ to do the ceiling in sons room for the ocean affect for his sponge bob room this fall. I grab 20-30 everytime i go to walmart, video stores and such. Dave gets me several too.

Oh wow! That sounds like it's going to be one incredible ceiling. You'll have to share photos when it's done. It sounds so neat!

Coasters! ROFL Well, you have to understand that DH says the only thing AOL CD's are good for are coasters. Dad actually uses one for a coaster on his 'puter desk! LOL
