Box of Blocks and Punch Holder

Sep 13, 2005 21 Replies

DH and I made these Box of Blocks for Grandparents day last Sunday. It was a lot of hard work but the Grandparents loved it. We bought the empty box from our LSS and DH made the blocks to go into it. I got the idea from the Creating Keepsakes magazine for July I think. Our LSS does sell the box with the blocks in it but DH said that he could make the blocks for me :) He's learning how to make boxes now.

This is the company that makes the boxes and blocks and other things as well.

Also I wanted to share the punch holder that DH made for me. I've addded 2 punches since the picture was taken. Its really functional. If I need a punch I just look at what I have and grab. They are in my webshots account under the folder MISC.

Thanks for looking.

The box of blocks is a neat idea. I haven't seen that before. What are the blocks made of? Are they chipboard? I love your punch holder. Your DH did a fantastic job with it.

Love the boxes TAbitha!!! Your girls are too cute! What a great DH, I really like the punch holder!

I really do like the punch holder that Eric made. Just a bit deeper with dowel rods that could slip in and out and you'd have a ribbon holder. Bet he could make a little money on the side making these!

The block idea is really fun too. Looks like it would make a great Xmas gift for a child, you could modge podge the six sides to seal the pictures in and they could play for a long time. What fun! Might have to consider this.

Thanks for sharing, Tabby!

Great idea! What a haddy guy that hubby of yours! Barb:o)

The box of blocks looks really neat! Definately a hit with grandparents. MC's idea of doing it for kids, is great, too. Tabitha, you have one very talented hubby there. His punch holder is great!

Love your Boxes of Blocks, Tabitha!!

Brain cells come and brain cells go.... but fat cells go on forever

how cute Tabitha! I love it and the girls are soooo cute. That punch holder is pretty neat!

Thank you Kenda!!! I'll be sure to tell him. I saw the idea on Ebay and asked if he could make me one :)

The box of blocks is so clever! A person could use almost any kind of picture to make a cute puzzle/toy for kids to put together! I'm thinking, calendar pages, favorite cartoon characters, do a theme box...hmmm) I think your punch holder looks great too! Its nice your DH is a handy dandy to have around! :)

If I don't post until the end of the month its because I can't remember what messages I've read and what I haven't. I'm using google because Eric used up all of our usage for the month LOL.

Thanks M-C! I'll be sure to tell him :) Very true. If I didn't already have a ribbon holder idea I would have suggested it to him. I'm using baby food jars for my ribbon.. Promise to share pictures once I take them :)

We were going to give them as Christmas gifts but then Grandparents day came up :) We did Mod Podge all of the pictures :) Its very time consuming but the grandparents loved them!!

You're very welcome!

Thanks Barb! He is. :) He's just started to buy woodworking tools. EXPENSIVE LOL :) So now he has to watch what he buys. Running out of money LOL.

Thanks Deb! It would be great for kids. I just remembered that Eric had suggested making one for Abby. Just bigger blocks.

Thanks Deb! I'll be sure to tell him :)

Thank you Jacqui!

I get a lot of ideas from magazines and my LSS.
