Cardstock Colo(u)rs

Awww her Mom is so nice. She and her friend Betty came up and spent a day with me and we had such a good time! I got addicted to PP beause of this old group! LOL We used to have some really great PPers and so I had to get into it. My only other group is a paperpiecing swaps group and I have got to do/recieved some really great pieces . I just finished doing six Jessie the yodeling cowgirls for a Disney swap and six tigers from an Annie Lang pattern for an ... You guessed it...and Annie Lang swap! LOL We all have the HOTP 201 thru 203 pattern books so we choose some from there occ. We use coloring books..ideas from other things .....I have done Ronald McDonald and used it on a LO of me,my DGD and DD at the world's biggest McDonalds in Orlando. Done all of the Disney princesses,Dumbo,Mickey and Minnie...used them on visits to Disney World Layouts. I am afraid it is as addicting as scrapbooking itsself. I will participate in a pp swap!!

White and creams are a staple for me. I also have all kinds of shades of browns and greens. I love the earth tones and prefer them over most anything else. An assortment of blues is always handy too. You'll narry find a pastel in my paper collection. Yuck, it's just not my style.

At least I KNOW I AM one for patterned paper, but some of ya'll I think are WORSE!! Why? Plain ole paper - well that is just DULL!!

I do the same thing. When Joann's, Michaels or Hobby Lobby have a sale I usually stock up on cardstock, buying 4-6 of each shade they have. I use a lot of black, blues, greens and purples.and have several shades of each. I have so much pattern paper, it's the cardstock I go after at a sale. Sandy

Lorilee, I have some of that Hersheys choc. kiss paper!! I used some of it for scrapping some Christmas LO of my grands. Love it!!

So what is your favorite

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm not really a patterned paper person. I use it but I am veeeery picky about it. Usually the pattern has to be subtle and muted. I don't like my paper to compete with the photos.

Yesterday when I met Becky Higgins (I'm going to post more about this!) she said that she prefers to use cardstock to show off her pictures better and for layouts with more busy pictures. She uses pattern paper for layouts with more simplistic photographs but even then, sparingly. If you look at her Sketches book you'll notice this. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I just just thought it was interesting and probably why I'm so drawn to Becky's work.

My favorite pattern paper is by far those that have no pattern but are a mixture of colors or shades of a color. Next is gigham or checked which I have a LIFETIME supply of now!! LOL!

In Feb. we went to the Hershey Store in Niagara Falls and I have a photo of me and my nephew by a giant Herhey Kiss that i thought woulld be fun to put on the choc. kiss paper. Unfortunately every time I look at the paper I think mmm chocolate would be a good snack right now which was not the intended purpose. There was some Hershey mini bars paper too that I just about bought. That could be fun also.

I am with you,Dave. I like the muted patterns,soft plaids and tiny prints. My favorite source is HOTP. They have a collection (book) called mixing patterned papers that I have used a lot. I like the effect for pictures of my daughters and granddaughters. It is sort of like putting together a quilt.

LOL Lorilee. I hear you. My daughter bought me some Hershey's sugarless chocolate Easter eggs and I am hoarding them. They are pretty good. Us diabetics love Chocolate, too! LOL

I don't think I have a favorite pattern of paper...yet. :-) I was finding myself making patterned paper with my stamps and cardstock, but discovered I was missing out on a lot of patterns that I couldn't do! So now I'm trying to stock up on various patterned paper because you just never know what you'll need.

I tend to buy packages. It's cheaper. So I have about every basic color.

I mostly use: reds blue green yellow orange.

Sabrina, have you noticed that a lot of sugarless items have extra "other" carbs? My mother bought me a box of sugarless Aplets and Cotlets (WA state product) one year - and there were more total carbs in the sugarless product than the regular product. Talk about frustrating.

Arliss, what I noticed most about the sugarless chocolate is ....it gives me the big D. LOL I don't eat much at a time because I get tired of running to the bathroom!
