Cat Hairs

Does anyone else have trouble with cathairs (not to mention cats) in your layouts? I've about reached the point where if there isn't a cat hair stuck to the page somewhere, it isn't my work. While I'm not (yet) ready to trade them in on a pair of goldfish, many's the time I find myself yelling, "Get out from between me and what I'm doing!" I know I'm not the only person here owned by a cat, so how do you all handle stuff like this? Mel K

Hi Jamie, and welcome!

You only think you're "not creative." I am sure that the majority of us here in the newsgroup once defined ourselves that way as well, that is until we began scrapbooking! It's really quite easy and the learning curve not that steep. Besides, if you think it's only a so-so layout, post it here, you'll find we all love something about it and we might even be scraplifting your ideas! Most important is to have fun, enjoy revisiting your memories through the photos, and don't worry about it "being perfect." Those little imperfections are what tells others that it was made by your loving hands. Sharing your scrapbook albums with others is always fun and exciting as people are always amazed that "you made this?!" And, replying, "Yes, I sure did." Ah, pride, it's a good thing.

has pictures as recent as this past weekend and as old as 20 years. I am a genealogist, although I wasted ALOT of time becoming a Phd in Educational Psychology only to find I hated that...hence the new genealogy career. We own a logging company (sorry if there is any Greenpeacers here). Eric works out in the bush running a delimber/processor. You already know we own a St Bernard.... Jamie Simmons

What a great starting list! Wish I had it when I started scrapping. I'm gonna try it now because I think it'll be a whole lot easier than my searching through everything each time I want to scrap.

I have to joy of a cat owning my house and he occasionally turns up in layouts that are not of him. If I can retrieve the hair without damage to the layout I do, otherwise I consider it his contribution to my craft. :-) Rusty's not allowed on my crafting table, but seems like his hair turns up everywhere.

Speaking of hairs... I talked to a friend of mine on Friday and she was making embellishments for scrapbooking on her lunch hour and breaks at work. I asked why she was doing it at work. She said she was doing it because she didn't want any dog hairs glue to them. hahaha

Actually, I've tried something similar. The biggest problem I have is individual hairs stuck in the glue. (I've also had problems with the occasional cat stuck in the glue, but that's another problem altogether.) Usually, I can remove them with a pair of tweezers, sometimes with a lot of grumbling when I have to unglue something to get at it, but there's always one or two I miss. Except for the black hairs, they're really not that visible. I have a 20 lb black cat who sheds a *lot*, but he's not the one that's usually on the table. Oh well. Per Garfield, "A house is not a home until it's completely covered with cat hair."

Hey Lynne...with 11 shih tzu living here there is very little that misses out on the hair treatment so I know how your friend feels. I have clipped most of them off now so I am hoping that things will improve somewhat, but I am not holding my breath.....LOL
