What a scraphappy month July was for me!

I signed up to do a big Scrapbook Challenge and it kept me busy, busy, busy... the organiser posted two different challenges every day, and I did my darnedest to get them all done. She announced the grand prize in the last week of the contest (a scrapbooking shoulderbag with goodies) and I wanted to have a real shot at winning it! All layouts had to be uploaded to the group's album by midnight Tuesday, so I let the housework go hang, and did my darndest to get all 51 challenges done (and done properly, not flung together just so I could say they were finished...) I did NINE pages on Tuesday! I uploaded the last two layouts at midnight, took a deep breath, and tallied up my totals. Ready for this?

There were a total of forty-eight regular challenges and three special bonus challenges (first person to post their layout won a prize) posted over twenty-four days. The house has gone to wrack and ruin, the laundry baskets are overflowing, and the kitchen sink is full of dishes, but I have a grand total of 59 pages, using 166 photos, and representing 43 challenges (42 regular and one bonus challenge?) My

2005 album is not quite complete, but it?s bulging at the seams so much that I?m going to have to buy a new scrapbook and split it into two sections to make it more manageable, and my first cat album is full!

It?s quicker to list the challenges that I DIDN?T get to do than all the ones I did. I printed out the list every week and crossed out the ones I?d done, and I think I?m going to scrap THAT as a record (I got John to take some photos of me hard at work yesterday, surrounded by a huge mess of creation!) I only left out #12 (no good photos from the year I was concentrating on), 27 (just didn?t inspire me), 31 (doesn?t count as a separate layout, because it was ?catchup day?), 35 (didn?t get to that sketch), 44 (I was going to do paw-prints for my theme but it?s midnight here so I?m out of time?), and 48 (I did the bonus challenge instead, and never even opened the page sketch to see what it was?)

I'm sure that after all this hard work you want to see what I created. Everything is in my Webshots Scrapbooking 2007 gallery...

Of course my 'reward' for all this scrapping was that I had to work my rear end off today trying to take care of all the housework I neglected last week while I was scrapping - I spent an hour picking up the trash/paper litter scattered around the apartment and collecting stray cat toys, an hour sweeping the floors and moving furniture around, an hour doing handwashing (it was raining hard and the laundry's outside downstairs, and we're about out of clothes so I didn't want to wait any longer!), and 45 minutes to wash the mountain of dishes! I honestly didn't think I'd get caught up in less than three days, but I got almost everything done today - all that's left is the rest of the laundry and I can take care of most of that tomorrow as long as it's not raining! So was it all worth it? Yes! I had great fun and got tons of scrapping done, and I hope it got me out of my 'don't actually make any pages, just do swaps' rut... and if I'm very lucky I'll win one of the prizes, but I'm not counting on it - it would be nice, but that's not why I did the challenges.

I'm not terribly lucky actually MC - I almost never win anything! The only prize I've won for my papercrafts was last year when I made the most christmas cards and you gave me the cute page kits... (I used the birthday kit to make a LO for this challenge.) It would be nice to get the prize for this (okay, REALLY nice!) but I'm not counting on it.

Thanks Crystal - and I do have something for all my hard work - two full scrapbooks! I had to buy some extra-large posts on ebay today because the books are too full for the regular ones... I went to put an extra pack of pockets in my cat album this afternoon, and the post-extenders that came with the refills are too fat to screw into the posts in the album (same brand, bought in the same store at the same time!) So the easiest answer seemed to be to just buy new posts.

Wow!!! Karen. I can't believe you got so much done and so beautifully........ You really put me to shame. This has got to make you feel sooooo good to see such an accomplishment. You definitely deserve a prize for all these wonderful LO's. I viewed them with the slideshow then had to go back through and look at them one by one again. (scraplifting mode in place) I can't even imagine what my place would look like if I let it go for even one day...............it would take me a week just to put it back together. Thanks for sharing, good luck with the prize.

Awesome work Karen. You did work extremely hard. I'm so impressed that each page is different. I always have such a hard time trying to think of something new to do so that all my pages aren't the same looking. When do you find out if you've won something. What site is it that you signed up to do this.

It's just a yahoo swap group... but instead of holding swaps in July they decided to do the challenge to get people to use some of their swapped stuff instead of hoarding it all! (I know that I tend to get so caught up in making stuff for swaps that I don't have any time or energy to actually make PAGES! That's why I've given up card-making and I didn't sign up for a single swap for July - I wanted to spend some time scrapping...)

I think I'm lucky in that I don't have kids to clean up after (just a husband and cats...), we live in a fairly small apartment (so not too many rooms to mess up), and I don't go out to work (so I have lots of time at home!)
