computer journaling

For those of you that do a lot of computer journaling, I need some tips. :-) I'm in the process of doing this memory album for my parents for Christmas and I've decided to do all the journaling on the computer, or as much as possible. Does anyone have any tips for me? I'm usually a hand-journaler, but in this case, I want the nice look of computer journaling. What type of paper do you find you journal most with? Do you just use plain printer paper or what? I know cardstock will go through my printer, and I've gotten vellum to go through there, too. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I like Hermafix glue dots. They are repositionable for quite some time.

Would using the glue dots with my printer cause problems? Obviously the glue dots would be between paper, but are they bulky? I've never used them before.
