Cricut usb inquiry

May 20, 2006 3 Replies

I wrote to support at Cricut and inquired about the usb port after reading on another group that they have plans to let you hook it to a pc and cut out the fonts and shapes of your choice. Here is the response I received this morning:

Good questions! The USB Port is on the machine for 2 reasons. The first is that it can be used for downloading future software updates that govern the machine operations.

The second reason is that we have plans to make the Cricut compatible with a computer and take advantage of its strengths. However, the details of how, when and what this will be aren't known quite yet.

I know this isn't conclusive in regards to your question, but we just don't know what the features are going to be just yet. We should have some sort of announcement within the next few months. I hope this has been somewhat helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I'm still on the fence about buying one.

I have the traditional sizzix machine and sidekick and hardly use it because I just don't have the space for the dies and sizzlets.

I'm going upstate to the Crafting Cottage where Georgiana said I can use both of them to decide. If I decide to buy it then I'd have to sell my sizzix machine, sidekick, and all dies to make it worthy of the purchase.
