DS Birthday LO uploaded

Hi folks...have just uploaded a layout of DS's 10th birthday in July 1979. The photos are not perfect as they were Kodak Instants (similar to Polaroids) which had seriously deteriorated. Some are almost totally disappeared but others I have managed to salvage.....even if they are a little distressed. Thank goodness for PSP photo fix capabilities :o) The papers used are again from the Scrap Pack Dave sent me....I am loving them and they are just perfect for 60's/70's photos, without being over the top. The brown and blue cardstock is textured HOTP card from a Paper Wishes personal shopper kit. Hidden journalling is tucked behind the top right photo. Thanks for looking!

Marilyn, You are right, the paper is perfect for those photos. Great LO. What is the name of the paper pack Dave sent you? I also have lots of photos from that time era to scrap, but have not been able to find just the right paper in my stash. Sandy

Sandy....it is Scrapbook Wizard Scrap Pack - Paper #2 - 180 sheets of patterned paper. I would say they are all very much of that era and only a few are too bright and garish for my taste. I am loving it so much it is lying out on the crop table ready to choose from :o)

Take care, Marilyn

Oh that did turn out really nice! Yes, that is a great paper pack and goes with your pictures SO nicely. I saw the name in the message to Sandy. I'll have to see if it's still around.

So, the photos you used were rescanned from the Kodak instant photos?

Looks great, Marilyn! Thanks for sharing.

Did you scan the remaining pics in case they deteriorate further? That way you'd still have the images, even if they do.

Thanks Alicia :o)

I scanned all the instants two years ago and wrote them to CD but many of the pics I have from that period are Kodak Instants. I have a few Polariods of DS1 as a baby and they really need some work before I could scrap them. From the late 60's to the 80's photography seemed a bit of a gamble......even the kids High School photos are a weird colour. I will get around to fixing them one day....maybe!!!! LOLOL

Yes Lynne and some even cropped & blown up from the fixed photos :o) They are not perfect but pretty good enough. The focal photo is a cropped, enlarged version of the middle pic on the right and Granny was cropped and enlarge from another family group pic. They were all scanned at a fairly high resolution....600dpi...I believe that helps :o)

Love your layouts. I really like the silver accents. Is it paper or ribbon?

I guess you are referring to the Christmas LO's, as that is the only one that has silver strips I think. They are embossed cardstock bought in strips like a stack. The benefit is they are about 2" wide and what you see is on strip halved per LO

It looks great Marilyn! That paper just fits perfectly with the photos. Speaking of photos, you did an awesome job with them. I never would have guessed you had fixed them. You do have me thinking, though. My mom has tons of older photos that really should be scanned in, just in case they deteriorate. Since she lives in the desert, I don't worry about mold/mildew, etc, but it wouldn't hurt to scan them in, just in case. That's going to be a headache and a half! LOL
