family problems

I need an opinion about something. My husbands family treats me and my husband like outcasts. They never call us to invite us to family gatherings we have to call them. I have gone out of my way to be nice in return I have invited them over to my house they never accept, I have had two boys they treat like dirt never give them any time or a little gift now and then. My husbands aunt who never calls but to ask for something calls me up recently to yell at me about my mother in law being in a nursing home that her doctor put her in. They never offer any help. This makes for a sticky situation, I love my husband very much and my children it really really hurts me. What else besides divorcing my husband can I do.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Don't know if you ment it for this forum, but if this has been going on for years, I would make one last attempt to tell them how I feel in an openhearted letter (not one-on-one because that will end up in a screaming match). But don't be bitter and make accusations, just say how you feel. If this does'nt work, I would cut all contact with them and concentrate on making your marriage work. Your boys deserve to have a happy Mom and Dad. Good luck :)
