Has anyone ever ordered from...

Oriental Trading?

I received their catalog a few days ago and they have some fun scrapbooking stuff! I went to their website and they have all kinds of things - in addition to the scrapping products.

As Halloween approached, someone posted that they received the catalog but I don't remember if anyone mentioned that they actually placed an order.

If you did, was the ordering process a good one for you? Did you have any bad experiences? I want to place an order but I thought I'd ask all of you first!

Thanks in advance! Brandi

At the YMCA we order craft supplies from them all the time. The ordering process is fine and dandy, some of the crafts are not. I'm not sure about scrapbooking stuff, because we do kids crafts. The things that you buy plain to decorate like boxes, wooden cars, wood shapes, are fine. Basic supplies are fine too, like construction paper, fuse beads, markers. What's not so great are any kits where you have to glue stuff together, especially foamies, because it always seems like the instructions were written by someone who's never actually assembled the craft, and none of the pieces actually fit together like in the picture, and it's usually just a big pain.

I've ordered from them a few times..... stuff comes fairly quickly, and is decent stuff... we order stuff for church too there and again, get the supplies, not the crafts... LOL but everything else is great...

I love oriental trading.

I haven't been disappointed in a long time with their items.

Sounds like an adventure I need not try! Will NOT be ordering the treasure chest kits!!! I'm glad you posted your experiences though because when I saw that they are not all "scrapbooking" I became even more curious! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks RJ, I was wondering how fast product arrived - There are a few scrapping items I was looking at for the holidays....and of course it's not order, receive and wrap....It's order, receive, CREATE! then wrap. Thanks!! Brandi

I haven't ordered any of the craft projects like Luna talked about, but I've ordered lots of other things from them and have liked what I've gotten and had no problems getting it in a timely manner and in good shape. I'd order from them again.

Glad to hear you're happy with them as most of their scrapping stuff seems decently priced. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store when one of these catalogs arrives at my house! I tend to shy away from shopping at sites I'm not familiar with. Without this group, I never would have known, and probably would never have ordered! None of my local friends have ever heard of Oriental Trading.

Thanks! Brandi

When I was a teacher we ordered stuff from them all the time--be aware that some of the stuff is 'you get what you pay for', cheaply made in China or wherever...but overall, in all the years I've ordered stuff from them, I've never had a complaint about their service or anything. Never ordered scrapbooking stuff from them, though--let me know what you find out if you do order stuff.

Hi Carolyne, Luna mentioned that she had been dissapointed with some of the items but I think I'm gonna stick with the scrapping stuff. I probably would purchase other stuff but now that I know to be careful!

Thank you! Brandi

LOL! What fun you must have had (not!) Our church ordered a bunch of stuff from Oriental Trader for the kid's summer program... the craft kits we ordered were okay except that one of them was VERY fiddly - I warned the craft leader that it would take at least an hour or a LOT of adult help, but she did it anyway, and ended up sewing all six little pouches together herself because none of the kids could lace them up! Oh, and once you order something from them, expect to get a catalogue every two weeks for the rest of your life, mostly full of kiddy stuff! The box was delivered to my house, and the catalogues have been turning up like clockwork ever since... I drool over the crafty stuff and toss out the junk ones.

I order from them a lot for scouts and church. One problem with the holiday stuff is if they are out you won't know until the box shows up at the door. So if you want it for the holidays order it early. I was looking at the scrap catalog last night. There were a few things I wanted too. Sandy

Oh Karen, you are so right about getting those catalogs in the mail like clockwork! I sometimes get TWO! lol I did notice they had more scrapbook stuff online than was in the last catalog I looked at. I could really do some damage buying embellishments.....

**bad Linda!...shop for christmas for OTHERS, not yourself!***hehehe

Ok I am going to jump on this one here. we order a lot for school and if you get the glue dots they have the crafts are a lot easier. As for ordering if you place it over the phone they can tell you if the product you want is there or not. I had to place an order today for a girl at work and it went real smooth for a first time order and it will be there by the 12th of this month. I have gotten crafts and never had a problem unless you just have a bunch of whinny kids working on them. And I got some scrapbooking tags the other day and they are just too cute. Just remember the glue dots and all projects will be easy.
