Help with making ornaments

I need help with 2 things (well I need help with more that but you guys can only help me with 2 of those LOL).

I purchased the glass balls at Michaels to make ornaments. I also bought these cute rubons to put on the ornaments. They won't stick to the balls. What am I doing wrong? THe rubon doesn't even come off at all.

Question 2 is: I would like to put a picture into the ornament. I can play with the size of the picture to get it to fit inside the ball but how do I get it to stay up?

I'm open for all suggestions. I would like to work on these ornaments this weekend.

Thanks for the help.

I have heard of people using that decorative shredded paper in the bottom of the ornament to keep the photo in place. Not sure about the rub-ons.

Chrissy,

Have you tried cleaning the glass with alcohol first? When I make the ornaments filled with paint swirls I have to rinse them out with alcohol so that the paint adheres better.

Will the rub-ons you bought rub onto paper with very little pressure? I have heard that rubons can get "old" making them harder to work with. You might have to try a different brand. I know I have used some from Sandylion once that took a a lot of elbow grease to get them to transfer to paper!

I also found this site for the photo ornaments -

I can't help you with any rubon suggestions, but I can suggest shredded paper to help with the pictures inside the ornaments. Also, if you cut the picture the same size/shape as the ornament, that will help too. Then you can roll them up and slip them in the ornament. I've done that with transperancy sheets that I stamped on then put them in the ornament. (Just read that sentence...LOL...not that I put the whole transparency sheet in there, but cut it the same size/shape as the ornament.) HTH!

Use water with vinegard to clean the surface. Than if you want paint it you should cover the glass with thin layer of wood elmers glue. Will dry transparent. this will form surface your acrylic paint will stick to. Any other questions.? Send me e-mail from contact page at
