Help with negatives

Hi - I have a few, well a lot, of slides/transparencies. Also lots of negatives (my parents stuff). Is there a way to print these does anyone here have any ideas/recommendations. Do I have to get a commercial place to 'convert' these to pictures? Any ideas, please?

Thanks Diana

If you decide to go the scanner route make sure you get one that has Digital Ice (removes grain and scratches, etc.) and color restoration features (restores faded negatives and slides).

If you go the CD route keep in mind that name brand (Maxell, Sony, Verbatim, etc.) doesn't mean good quality discs. These companies don't make their own discs, they have someone else do it and the quality varies from batch to batch. For archival CDs and DVDs I recommend the Archival Gold discs from Delkin. While I don't believe their 300 year life span marketing I have found for archival use they are far superior to any other brand.

Hi and thanks both, I didn't think if I scanned a slide it would look right - but will try. Or do I need a special scanner. Yes, will probably put them on CDs eventually, but jut want to see what they look like, as well as what the old negatives look like. I don't see how they become 'converted' to picture form though. And I think 300 years will see me out Diana
