I got to meet Dave! I got to meet Dave! I got to meet Dave!
I got the email on Thursday afternoon that at the *last minute* Dave got a trip to bring some equipment up here to the Six Flags (Great America) near Chicago and would I have the time or want to meet up. OH YEAH!! I just kinda informed my hubby that we had weekend plans to meet RCS Dave. :-) I called the babysitter and put her on notice to be available for the boys. (...not that she minded, I'm getting her into scrapping too!) Hubby wasn't feeling too good (we've all been fighting colds,etc...) but was game to go to dinner with us.
Dave and I talked a couple of time through the day coordinating where we were, when was going to work, etc, etc... and after he'd had a hard day driving and unloading the truck, I get the call that he's at the truck stop just off I-55 here in Joliet. YEAHHHHH!!! I knew that I'd be looking for a tall handsome man with glasses--and a smile that's never far away. ...and there he was, waiting for us in front of the building. After the *hello's* and introductions and hugs, we took Dave to a local Polish restaurant called "A Taste of Polonia". I while back I told Dave that if he ever came through town, I'd make him a home-cooked meal...well, I didn't cook it, but it was definately a home-cooked meal. It's a local Polish buffet restaurant here in town that if you looked in the kitchen, you'll expect to see *grandma supervising the girls*. Dave, my husband Scott and I all had a wonderful time eating and talking and sharing our stories and stuff. When we left, I think we were the last ones in the place that weren't family or employee. They had a band and looked like they were going to have a fun night ahead of them!
We made plans to meet this morning for brunch and to check out my LSS, Scrapbook Lane
And, as any of you who have already met Dave know, he is a wonderful, caring and awesome person to meet, be with and just hang around with! I've never met someone who can smile "just because" as easily as Dave does. He's got such an interesting scrapping style that I had to come home and write a few notes on what I scrap-lifted...and techniques he uses that I liked. :-)
I had to send Dave on the road with a little "care package"...a little home-made potica for snacking on...and well...the Mosaic Man has plenty of variety to experiement with. A friend of mine is a scrap-class instructor in an LSS in downstate Illinois and into her scrap bin goes anything that is less than a full sheet....and then her scrap bin goes to me...and then I share it with anyone who wants any! Well, the last time she emptied on me....she gave me a big black garbage bag full of paper! WOW! Soooooooooooo, being that we're floozies and enablers around here...I had to share :-)
Dave, anytime you're coming through northern Illinois, you always have a weclome haven with hot food, big scrapping tables and friendly faces!
