So I was sitting on the couch this morning saying to the boys one more time (I had already told 'em about 10 bazillion times) that, "no I'm not going to work today, I called in sick so I can go see the dr. about my bladder infection." (I've had it since Sat. and am reallly in pain by now! ) It's about 6:30 and my cell phone rings, I look at the number and thinks to myself, "wonder what dear brother wants this time of the morning he should be at work by now." (DB is a shipyard worker and is @ work by 5 am eastern time) I answer the phone and hear, "do you know who this is?" It's Dave!!! He wondered if I was at work yet. Told him no I had called in sick....he was just a few miles out of town and wondered if I was feeling up to meeting him. But of course, never to sickly to meet a fellow scrapper and I'm not contagious!! Called DH to let him know what my plans were all he said was, "have a good visit honey, and call me when you head home and I'll make you some coffee." So after I got the children on the bus, course they're teens and didn't understand why I had to make sure they were on the bus before I left, "you're not here normally on the days you work Mom! Stop worrying about us". Yeah like that's gonna happen anytime soon....Anyway, I headed out to meet Dave, on the way I passed the firefighter I normally relieve in the mornings, (thinks to myself, "yeah, I'm gonna hear about this on Thursday he's gonna ask where I was headed, should have taken the busy interstate.") So I parked behind Dave's truck and call him. He asked where I was as he was climbing out of his truck. "Watching you get out of your truck!" I have him a hug, from everyone! He says I'm taller than he thought I would be, and I've shrunk over the last few years...We visited in his truck and then went inside and sat at a table. We looked at each others albums. Dave has done an amazing job of documenting his life and family/friends!! I picked up some really good ideas and tips from him. Dave gave me a goody bag of frames, punchies, page corners, a shaker box!!! eyelets, stickers, serendipity (spelling?) squares, lots of goodies!!!
I did feel bad that I had my cell phone stuck to my ear for at least 1/2 hour. I was trying to get through to the Dr. office to make an appointment. I have a wonderful dr. but it's hard to get an appointment esp on Mondays and there are 4 other dr.'s in his clinic. So I see the dr. this afternoon. But Dave was a real sport about me having the phone glued to my ear bless his heart! (though in my defense, I was on hold for aloooong time!) I had a wonderful visit, and hope to see him again soon, & when he can spend some time to hopefully go to a scrapbooking store. Oh, funny story, I already said that I passed the guy I relieve in the mornings, well while Dave and I are talking in the store walks one of the guys my DH works with, I had noticed him looking at my van while he was gassing up his pickup. I said a few choice words, slid as far over in the corner as I could get, hoping he wouldn't see me. (this guy is a really big gossip at work! Name is Perry) Then I decide aw screw it, this could be fun. So on his way out this guy looks at me with an odd look on his face and throws his hand up in a wave and goes out the door. He didn't make it to his pickup before he had his phone to his ear. I told Dave, I'll bet he's calling either Alan (my DH) or someone off the job to tell them that 1) I called in sick to work this morning and was sitting in a truck stop with a man that isn't my husband, 2) I'm probably messing around on DH. This really amused me, I hope it didn't upset Dave. Well, on my way home I called DH (I'm trying to teach him how to make a latte (we both really like them but he needs to learn to make them!)) to tell him I was headed home, instead of him asking for instructions on making the latte he told me he had a very interesting phone call. "oh yeah was it from Perry?" he says, "well as a matter of fact it was, wanted to know if I had talked to you this morning. I said of course, she was on her way to work why" Seems that Perry asked Alan lots of questions like was brother or Dad a trucker, Alan said yes, but my Dad was headed to FL yesterday. Perry was just beside himself and hated to be the one to tell Alan that he thought I was having an affair, and the guy was probably a trucker. (he was sorry to tell Alan, his wife cheated on him and now he really doesn't trust women) Alan said that he acted all upset and asked Perry not to say anything. Well, we've had a good laugh, and Alan has had a number of phone calls this morning, just to check and see how he's doing!!! LOL We knew Perry couldn't keep quiet, Alan has let everyone know why I was there, but we have gotten allot of amusement out of it. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!! Hope you're okay with it Dave.
Anyway, I had a really good time meeting Dave and hope we can do it again soon, though with time to shop and so he and M-C can meet!!
