I'm in Scrapbook Heaven!

Archiver's has opened a beautiful brand new store right up the street! (Well, 15 miles up the street, but close enough.) I spent all last Saturday (and three digits) up there, and brought home a ton of wonderful, just out stuff. They have all the latest from just about all brands, including the new Silhouette. Gotta wait a bit on that, but I'll have one by Christmas! Is anyone here planning to go to Archiver's Scrapfest in September? My wonderful hubby has given me an early Christmas present of a trip up there for the weekend, and I'd love to meet anyone from here who will be there. It's the weekend after Labor Day (6th thru 9th), at the Mall of America in Minneapolis. If anybody wants to see, here's the website for it:

In the meantime, I gotta go back to Archiver's. Why bother with Michael's when there's an Archiver's half a mile up the street? Mel K

I'll be at the Mall in September. But I only live 10 minutes from there anyway! I have at least one sister coming, and my in town scrap buddy Steph, who has (finally) convinced her hubby that scrapping would be a much better activity then camping. (Last year it was about 40 degrees for this weekend in Northern MN where they were camping.)

Mel, just a hint, but if you are planning to take classes, you need to be ready to sign up that morning when the registration goes live. My sisters and I got bumped from classes during checkout because they had filled that fast.

And its a complete and total blast. See you > Archiver's has opened a beautiful brand new store right up the street!

I should also add that you don't need to take classes, as the make and takes will take you about a day and a half to get through, with the waiting and such. Bring a 12 x 12 case to the mall, to hold your make and takes-its a must. Kathy

(Can you tell how excited I am about it????!!!!)

I've been looking at the descriptions on the reservation site, and I'm hoping I can preregister for some of the classes. Actual registration (for the Scrapfest badges) begins in July, though they haven't set a date yet. I'll be haunting the site (as well as the local store) between now and July What part of Minneapolis do you live in? I lived in Brooklyn Park from 1982 to 1993. I loved it there, and still miss it. We're considering going back there to retire, if we can afford it. In addition to Scrapfest, I'm looking forward to seeing the city again. Thanks for the advice on the 12 x 12 case. I will certainly bring one. I suspect I'll probably need to bring a large, empty (at least going up there) suitcase, as well. I'll be looking forward to meeting you!

{{{pouting and stomping of feet}}}

None in NYC.

There is one in NC but my SIL wouldn't let me go. Even Larry (DH) wanted to check it out but she said "you're saving for a house you don't need any stuff."

Oh well. Have fun and report back I'll live viacriously through you.

The badge registration and the class registration should open at the same time. The classes should be posted any day now. If you plan to do a crop around town at one of the Archivers, plan to call the day they open too. They fill up within 15 minutes of the stores opening. Last year it was $40, but you got more than that just in product and it was a fun time. We did the Making Memories one at the Woodbury store (not that it was close, but it was a consensus amongst the sisters for a sponsor). Everyone won an album and a pack of stuff from MM, and more albums and stuff from Archivers. They literally did drawings all night. Plus, they did a couple of make and takes-we did a really, really cool clipboard and (???) something else. Anyway, it was worth it and very, very fun.

Registration opens on July 24, which will be a somewhat busy day for me- I have minor surgery scheduled for that morning, and probably won't be able to look at a computer for the rest of the day. Hopefully they will take registrations after midnight the night before. Archiver's is expanding the crop at the MOA into the rotunda, which will give them lots more room. I haven't decided if it's worth it to rent a car for the weekend, so I may be limited to MOA. (Not that it won't keep me busy- I've been there before.) I'm looking forward to seeing the list of classes.
