My daughter has a low fever 100-99.2 I'm home alone with her and have no fever medication. She sleeps on and off and is cuddely and lythargic. Not herself-should I be worried? what can I do till hubby gets home with medicine? Barb:o)

A damp cloth on her forehead may help her. I hope she gets better soon.

For my kids the low grade temp doesn't alarm me. I may not even medicate unless my child says they are uncomfortable. My doctor said years ago that she wasn't so much worried about a temp as in how is the child acting. My kids have had temp and been bouncing off the walls like usual, but the time my son had a 102.7 temp and didn't want to get off the couch for 2 days... I called the doctor.

My opinion... watch her behavior is she behaving like she usually does with a cold or flu. If the temp stays where it's at ... if it were my child I'd wait til DH came home. If she's acting abnormally and/or if the temp goes over 100-102 range that's when I'd swing into action. Call DH see if he can come home early... call an advice nurse... see if a drug store will deliver? Sometimes making a call can ease your mind you're doing the right thing.

You're "doctor Mom" you know your children. We know how are children act and what seems unusual.

Big hug,

Lynne

Thanks Lynn! She seemed fine today she had a good night sleep, ate breakfast, fought with her sister all morning and wanted to go to school, so I sent her, she has her Christmas program today so hopefully all is well! Barb:o)

So, glad to hear she's doing well. It's scary when our kids are sick. Both of mine had pneumonia in November.
