just checking

For some reason my server wouldn't let me reply to a post so I am seeing if I can post at all so this is just a testing post.

I can see your post Jennifer :) Sometimes people use HTML code in there post. I also get a text box that tells me if I reply in that format, others may not be able to read it. Don't know if this is the same kind of thing, but HTH.

Actually my DH thought that was the problem too but it wasn't. For some reason, just trying to reply to Marilyn's post yesterday, it kept popping up the message something about the post filter and the news server. I finally decided to do the "test post" and it went through. I still haven't tried to reply to another post yet though. I guess that is what I am doing now though. Hope it works.

Oh! I just noticed you had "Mum" in one of your folders of LO's and I have a friend in England that pronounces it that way also.

Yes...we have always used Mum here in the UK. I always find it very strange seeing Mom in posts...LOL Not sure why the difference since both countries use English, although there are differences between the English spelling we use and the American equivalents.

Oh Jennifer...did that come across as snippy!!!! Sorry if it did...was not my intention :o) That will teach me to answer posts, watch card-making on qvcuk.com and play in Photoshop all at the same time.

tee hee Marilyn...I noticed that we Americans put our "o's" and "U's in different places than y'all. MOM - MUM HUMOUR - HUMOR color-colour I do love it!! But isn't it amazing that we can all understand each other just fine. LOL

I don't mind how words are spelt Sabrina but it can be a pain when using the computer. You often have to download a UK English dictionary for the spellchecker because the American English baulks at the correct spelling......LOL I believe that in the US they use a more relaxed phonetic approach to the English language, hence the dropping of "u's" in many words, and where we say socks, I believe in the US it is spelt "sox". They tried phonetics here for a while but have gone back to the old methods. My view...doesn't matter a jot as long as we all understand one another and embrace the differences that make us all who we are. :o)

Thanks Cecelia...perhaps that is where I got the notion from. I also lived in Australia where there has been a good dash of American influence.....particularly in television programmes. Maybe that is where I picked it up....geez......I am beginning to feel old!!!! LOL
