Long Weekend Activities

This weekend DH and I are going backcountry camping. It will be a first for both of us. DD is staying with SIL and family. Please pray that it does not rain. I hate being wet and cold. I am looking forward to it very much. It won't be a very long hike in, approximately 2 miles to the campsite. We thought we'd take it easy the first time around. There is another trail that is 40 miles total length we could go in and back out again, but that's for another trip. Taking camera so I will post pics when I get them developed.

Have a super awesome long weekend everyone!

Helloooo! I'm back from my backpacking trip. It was alot of fun, considering I had a terrible head cold. We hiked in set up shop and relaxed for abit. Did some fishing from the shore, snoozed and had a nice time. There were only 1 other couple at the lake we were at so it was really secluded and quiet, until midnight when we heard the very vocal fishermen on the lake singing their drinking songs. We just laughed about it and they were gone shortly later. Next morning we decided that we would head home. I would have liked to stay another night but my head was rebelling, and I was missing my DD, (it was the first time we had left her overnight somewhere.) The stars when you are that far away from the city are amazing. Absolutely astounding! Told DH that trip was not a failure, that I would very much like to try again.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. We did have a successful trip with no animal sightings, no bugs, good weather and no rain.

Bless you all! Wanda in Winnipeg

Wanda, Sounds like a great trip. I do agree about the stars..we just sat and looked at them for hours. It is amazing how wonderful they are and how little we see of them in 'civilization'. I can understand why cowboys hate to sleep indoors. We did get rain on our last day but we were snug in our tent. We did have lots of animals, though. Lots of deer hung around grazing and they would just look at us and go on about their business. lol Our favorite was the thieving raccoons that kept trying to get into the camp and take everything that wasn't locked up. lol There were far too many bees and mosquitos to suit me,but that's just me. Hope you are feeling better and glad you had such a neat trip Hugs,

Sabrina :-)
