Questions, questions...

Ok, more newbie questions :) Glad I'm not the only one asking :)

  1. What actually happens at a "crop"? Especially at ones held at the LSS? I just discovered that my LSS
    formatting link
"the biggest in Texas" and they have crops every Friday andSaturday night. I just am curious as to what happens at them so I'dknow what to expect...2. What is a RAK?

  1. When scrapping, do you do 2 sided pages or just one? And if doing

2, how do you keep them from being too heavy to keep from tearing at the seams?

I think that's it for now! Thanks!

I'm new at scrapbooking but I will try and help you with the questions.

Ok maybe I'm not the one to do this.

  1. not sure never been to one
  2. A RAK is Random Acts of Kindness... you just send something to someone out of the goodness of your heart.

3 I've done 1 sided and 2 sided LO's.. Not sure how to keep them from tearing at the seams.. I put them in page protectors and I use photo albums to put my pages protectors in.

Hope this helps a little.

  1. a "crop" is a meeting of scrapbookers. it is simply more than one person getting together to work on their pages. IMO (in my opinion) the quality of a crop can be judged on three basic factors (in order) 1. the quality of the food ;-) 2. the friends you're scrapping with and 3. the amount of space available to crop in.

  1. has been answered

  2. i do 2 sided pages. be sure that you're buying a quality album. there are tons of types of albums available, but buy for quality, not price so much. the 3 ring binder type are not the best typically, because of the tearing pages like you mentioned. most here go with the strap-hinge albums or the post-bound albums. i make HEAVY embellishment laden pages, and i use CM (Creative Memories) albums. i've never had a problem with one tearing up.

welcome to the group, and hope that helps! lori shay louisville

Sometimes people have crops in their home for their friends, for free. Also CM consultants have crops that they usually charge for.

Random Act of Kindness

Are you thinking that 2-sided means you scrap on both sides of the same background paper? Most scrappers do not do that. If you are using a 3-ring or postbound album, you can put 2 background papers back to back in the protector. If your sleeves are not strong enough to hold 2 pages back to back, it may be a cheap quality album. Plus 3-ring binders don't do well with any weight on the page. Strap-hinge albums like CM have stiff pages with a strong edging so they will not rip, pull, or tear.

If you are thinking "2-sided" when you mean a 2-page spread (the right and left pages when open are viewed as one continuous page), then this is common in scrapbooks. Just create both halves together as though they're one page split down the middle, then place in facing page protectors (or attach to facing pages in a strap-hinge album).

CC All of your questions have been answered, but I just wanted to tell you, I have been in the store you are talking about (their second one on Bandera) and loved it. You are lucky to live so close to it to attend crops. Their paper selection is amazing!

Enjoy, Myra
