scrapping alone

I do my scrapping at home while the kids are at school. Ive been trying to talk my girlfriend into coming over and scrapping with me. She doesnt seem interested- she scraps alone as well. Im curious if all of you work alone or if you scrap together sometimes. I dont mean crops at an LSS but just friends getting together. Do you prep some pages to work on ahead of time, how much stuff do you haul?

i teach classes that i have to drag a bunch of stuff too. so, when it comes to scrapping with friends somewhere i really don't. i have had friends over here a few times, but mostly i get a few projects to work on then go to my LSS. my friend works there, so we do different things. a few weeks ago she was doing a class on alcohol ink and needed a few more samples done. so, i went over there and made up some samples for her. other than that, i really stay close to home. with DH out of town and two kids here with me (one of which is turning into the social butterfly) i don't have a lot of free time.

I prefer to scrap alone. I have a designated craft room so it's easier than packing up all my stuff and taking it to someone's house. (I always forget something!) I can concentrate better as there's no conversation and I can leave my stuff out if it gets too late. I occasionally like to go to crops because I really do like to chat and have the creative company. I go maybe a few times a year. When I do, I try to have layouts pre-sorted and ready to go. I don't bring alot of embellishments and extras. I add those plus journaling later when I'm at home. When I scrap at home, nothing is pre-sorted. I do belong to a monthly craft night. There are five of us and we rotate houses. It's nice to catch up on everyone's lives and I don't see "stuff" that needs to be done around my own house. I take my presorted layouts or make cards.

I started scrapping when my friend introduced it to me. We would take turns coming over to each others house. Our kids are around the same ages, so they played together outside, and we shared our tools, and ideas, (and gossip)and we would drink coffee in the AMs or Captain Morgan and cokes in the evenings! I miss her..she moved away!

I have gone to a LSS to scrap, but I have a hard time choosing what I want to take with me. I do keep in mind what the LSS has on hand as far as dies, and tools, so I dont have to take those. I do sometimes use preplanned pages, then finish them at home. I dont concentrate nearly as hard on a LO at an LSS..too much going on! :-) Plus, I like to have all my scrapping stuff scattered around my desk.

Great topic Tammie! Well I do both. I have a Scrapbook Meetup group that meets at my house usually every other Monday. Then I have friends that like to drop in from time to time. I'm going to a 12 hour crop on Saturday and I take classes and go to other people's crops. I actually do most of my scrapping alone, strange as it may seem. When I do go elsewhere to crop, I always try to have the pages set up, pictures, patterened paper, and cardstock as well as some of the embellishments I plan on using. Frankly so far my favorite is going over to someone else's house since at my crops, I always seem to be helping people find something and I never get anything done, LOL!

I'm about 50/50 between scrapping alone (with family around the house) and scrapping with someone else. I've attended a few crops but only with Ronni or RCS. I don't have a craft room so I have to drag it all out every time. Recently a friend and I have a monthly date. Our kids are the same age so we go to her house, the kids play and we scrap. She is a CM consultant and her entire front room is a scrapping haven.

I would love to scrap with someone but I don't know anyone locally that scraps. All of my scrap friends are online in other states. I have to use DH judgement on a page if I need an opinion which sometimes isn't the greatest idea because he could care less if the paper matches or thats the right embellishment. Trying to get my little sister into scrapbooking but she has became quit the social butterfly herself.

Great topic Tammie.

I would love to scrap with someone. I do not like going somewhere by myself. I started out with me neice about 5 years ago and we regularly went to a monthly CM crop. I did not accomplish much as I loved to look, ogle and gab -LOL!

So Now I pretty much do it by myself and I power layout so when I do scarp, everything is in order and I can put my mind to it.

I have a hard time scrappin at home. I work in my home Mon-Fri and need to get away to be able to scrap - I see too many other things to do or know is waiting for me to get done. I do kits (put together with paper, embellishments and photos) and take them to the monthly crop along with the tools I need. Sometimes I find I need something at home and just do what I can and put the kit back in the bag to finish at home. I will socialize sometimes and at other times it is just nice to work away and sort of half way pay attention to the socializing around me. Sandy

I do scrap alone, but I have a once a month scrap night at my house and I get my best work done when people are here. Like Sandy it is only then I'm not distracted, but all the things that need to be done around the house. :)

I usually end up scrapping at home, alone...or with the kids and DH here. We'll be starting a scrapbooking class at church that I'll be involved in, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to eventually take LO's to work on there, only time will tell. I had it scheduled to go meet Kenda and a friend of hers at an LSS a week or two ago for a late night crop, but we had snow/sleet/rain move in and I wasn't feeling real good, either. I've gotten better at making planned page layouts, havign the papers planned out , pics, etc. all together. Of course, if I was to go to a crop at the last minute, I would be in so much trouble since I haven't looked at those few planned pages in ages! LOL

I mostly scrap (or make cards) alone because I don't have anyone to share with (whimper whine pout). But when we vacation in the summer, we go to a beach house with friends from other places, and they craft ... so we have a week-long crafting session that will include scrapping, cards, beads, painting, etc. I take my big crop case of supplies (plus my flatbed paper cutter, which I cannot do without), and the others take similar amounts of stuff. A lot of sharing happens, and if one person needs a piece of paper with a butterfly on it (for instance), somebody else will usually have it. :-) It is great fun. Plus I really do get a lot done.

I have scrapped with others. I don't mind that, but I find that I'm more productive if I scrap alone. We I scrap with others I find I like to watch what they are doing. I like to see others techniques and ideas.

I usually end up scrapping alone. Though I have ventured out a few times with the secretary at work. We've gone to the LSS and scrapped. I put together kits to work on or if I have a project started I'll take it to work on. The first time we went I scrapped 8 pages of Christmas and the last time I took Nick's Guatamala trip pictures and worked on it, I didn't get alot done that night as I spent alot of time chatting with the store owner and the other ladies scrapping, but Cindy got 14 pages completed! LOL Though she's not as fussy with embellishments as many of us are! Her pages look great and she's very happy to get the pictures on the pages and get her journaling done without all the fuss. I am currently having a hard time getting anything done as We've so much going on right now.

Glad to hear that she is still going strong! Did they ever get the new room finished? Next time you go please say hello to Jo Alice for me. Her birthday is the same day as mine! Last year we got to wish each other a Happy Birthday!

That looks so cool! AR really needs a place like this, don't they Kenda? If we ever find one here, we'll have to go and take Cindy with us! Run away, leave the kids with the hubbies. Sounds good to me! :-)
