most things ready for the wedding (long)

I haven't had time to read any posts since Jo had her baby and reported back that she was home. I loved her encouragement to give blood as I needed a lot when my second son was born.

The redecorating in honor of relatives coming is done as much as possible. Two items have not arrived yet. The rug for the entry hall should be here today or tomorrow. A new framed print for over the fireplace might not arrive in time. (I didn't want a quilted item there because there are so many other quilted items in the room. It needed another texture) The new chandelier we decided was too large for the room and are sending it back. One of the problems of ordering from the internet --- from the photos it looked nice and the measurements given seemed to work but when we hung it no one liked it. No time to choose a new one. The tired old one will have to do.

Supplies are ready for the reception table center pieces. They are candles and ribbons sitting on a mirror, very pretty but must be assembled in place. Two friends are coming to the church tomorrow afternoon to help decorate the reception room. This is my only responsibility with the wedding. The bride's mother lives out of town so she didn't have local friends to help. The Rehearsal Dinner will be held at a local restaurant. The only decorating I need there are some balloons.

My husband just went to pick-up his tux. Other members of the wedding party purchased theirs on the internet because it looked cheaper than renting them. Several had to pay to have theirs tailored, again finding that internet is not always the way to go. The internet company could not fit my husband as he is tall and very thin. Their longest sleeve was 35" and Dave needs a 37". I said he was long and thin. His long arms have been handy during the redecorating.

The out of town attendants are arriving today and tomorrow but they are all hanging out at my son's new condo and staying at a hotel so I don't have to entertain. My husband's relatives are arriving from California and Ohio tomorrow just in time for the rehearsal dinner. We hope they make here in time for the dinner. If the weather is bad they might miss it. They are all staying at the hotel. The wedding is Saturday morning with the reception immediately following. I expect the bride and groom to be on their way by 1:30. After a little clean-up at the church the family will migrate to our house to continue visiting. Any food needed later in the day will be carry-out! Only five members of my family are coming from out of town and that is only 150 miles away. A special part of the week end is that my 94 year old mother will see her two month old great-granddaughter for the first time. Yes, we plan the four generation picture. Four of the five will leave soon after the wedding. My sister will stay several days to help with Mom while I visit and entertain my husband's family.

Mom's bath aide, who is a dear friend, will stay with Mom on Friday afternoon while I decorate for the reception until we return from the rehearsal dinner. She will return Saturday morning at 8:00, get Mom up and dressed and bring her to the church a half hour before the ceremony. She will stay with Mom through the reception in case Mom gets tired and needs to leave. She will take Mom home and stay with her until we come home for good. By then Mom will be napping so I can too. I am so fortunate to have someone I trust caring for Mom all that time. It allows both me and my sister to enjoy the wedding.

Right now the cleaning service is here cleaning the entire house---a present to myself. I need to make a grocery store run but that is about it. Only one more son to go!

G'day Susan Best wishes to you, the family, the wedding couple for a wonderful weekend and ceremony. My best friends here just married off their son two weeks ago and there was a major house redecoration as the wedding was held in garden there. A great way to revitalise the house. Maybe DH and I should reaffirm our vows after 30 yrs this Sept.! I am trying to recall whether this marriage was on the cards when we met you in September??

Have a marvellous time love Bronnie

You sound incredibly organized and calm. Either that or you're covering up really well!

Best wishes to the bride and groom - enjoy the day!

That sounds well organized!

I may never have to plan a wedding... I only have one son. :) I might offer to make his bride's dress.

We were all watching Four Weddings and a Funeral the other evening... GMNT said: Are they all like this? Pretty much, we said.

Hm... He says. I think I'll keep it simple when I get married!

(Love the optamism - he's 15 and has no girlfriend yet!)
