"Mail Art"

So I needed to make a masculine thank you card for a good friend. I then decided that I should some how "jazz" it up. I couldn't think of a way, so I decided to try my hand at "mail art". I love to look at the mail art envelopes that are sent in to such magazines as Rubber Stamp Madness. I have up loaded some pictures to my account. They are in the cards album. On the masculine thank you card I used a soda tab that I embossed (love the idea!) I masked off the addresses then used versa mark and manly rubber stamps. I then chalked the entire envelope. I sure hope the recipient enjoys it......

This was incredibly easy, and loads of fun. A really great way to really make that handmade card stand out! I know I will be doing this allot more often. It really didn't take very much time. I can't wait to hear from him to see how he likes it!!!! LOL That's just awful isn't it?!

Kenda your envelope is so cool. I like the antiqued look of the envelope. The card is great too. I love that two-sided ribbon you used.

Kenda, that looks great!! I love the "mail me art" stamp that you used! Arleen

Thanks Cathy. The ribbon is some I picked up at Micheal's. I think you get a whole 3 feet on the little spool. lol The envelope was alot of fun. Something different anyway. I sure hope the recipient likes it. I'm holding my breath!

I really like that stamp too. I stamped on the back of the card, "This card is Microwave and Dishwasher safe!" LOL I got alot of really odd sayings in a grab bag I purchased. Lots of fun stuff!

The card is great. So are your layouts and the pictures from Arkansas.

Thanks Barb. Though as usual I can't take credit for it. I saw it done in a magaize. But I've always said I'm a great copier! LOL

That is so neat Kenda. You always come up with such wonderful projects!

That really is a very cool card. Thanks for sharing and giving the rest of us ideas!

Lynne

Thanks M-C! Like I said, I can't take credit for the idea, just copying someone else's idea.....But I must say, it turned out pretty darn good! lol

Thanks Lynne. Thought I'd share it, I liked the idea of doing an envelope to go along with the card, just a little extra special.

Interesting project Kenda. I have occasionally pondered working on the envelope as well as the card and never tried. Thanks for sharing how your turned out. It looks like you had lots of funa ns it certainly adds interest for the recipient.

When I was a teenager I got into stamping and decorating stationary and I always made matching envelopes. It just add that much more special-ness (is that even a word:)) to receiving mail. Nice job.

Lynne

I'd say if you've pondered it, go for it! I'd love to see how others turn out.

I'd say it's a word, even it its not I'd argue the point! LOL

Wow - that's really neat! That's a very liftable idea. :) As far as being "awful" looking forward to getting feedback on your creation - not at all! You put that much effort into something, you want to know it's well received. :)

That, and I think we all like the ego strokes and Kudos, I know I do! ;)
