Making scrapbook covers?

I must confess that I'm intrigued by the idea of making my own scrapbook covers -- does anyone know if there's a website or group that discusses such projects?

Thanks!

Since I first asked this question, I've done a little bit of research on making your own scrapbook covers. I've looked in dozens of books on bookbinding, but none of them gave me the 1-2-3 steps I wanted for post-bound covers that I could make to match page refills of whatever type I chose.

I went to a local art store, and found that they had kits for doing exactly this -- making your own albums! However, the kits cost between $20-$40, and none were 12x12.

You can buy the individual pieces -- Davey board, posts, linen tape, and the paper or cloth you'll use to cover the cover for much cheaper, but if you do this, you have to know what you are doing.

I searched online, and found a cheaper alternative at Misterart.com. I am not affiliated with this company, but note that they do have good deals. They have kits for making both 12x12 ($10.56) and 8 1/2x11 ($9.79) albums. . . "easy-to-make post bound album kit. Materials are acid free and archival, and finished album is ready for covering with decorative material of your choice. Kit contains ten white paper pages, three sets of screw posts, linen tape, binder boards and binding strips for making the cover. Complete instructions are included."

I'm thinking I'll buy the kit, and once I've made that one, I'll have the experience to branch out on my own. Then I"ll be able to measure the holes for the posts to match the top-loading refill pages I want to get, in addition to having my own, uniquely decorated albums.

Hope this helps anyone who is as crazy as I am, thinking they have the time to do this on top of everything else!
