My new layout on webshots

Hello everyone, I have just finished my latest layout, it has taken me a long time to do. It contains just beach photos but I think these some of my most vivid photos. It can be difficult to showcase scenery/landscape photos so I tried to make them more interesting to look.

One thing I love about scrapbooking is that one can do virtually anything on the scrapbook pages (as long as it is archival quality) - and I have certainly done a lot here (I just love making little time-consuming detail...)

Please let me know what you think. Thank you, Klara

That is a beautiful LO. I can tell it took some time and planning. When you printed on the transparency did you print on the top or reverse print on the back? I was wondering as I do like the way you painted behind some of the words to highlight them. I didn't know if the paint would cause the ink to bleed if it were reversed printed on the back. The slide mounts with the beads, shells and diamond glaze are so neat. I'm going to have to remember how you did that. Sandy

Hi Klara Wow you did an amazing job on those embellishments, and the time you invested in it shows! I really like how you collaged your pictures, and the colors really stand out!

Your layout is beautiful! I've only been scrapping about 2 months, and I love looking at other's layouts for ideas. You really put a lot of work into yours!

Hello Sandy,

This is how I did my transparency journalling with the highlighted words:

I printed the the text on the top side of the transparency on a laser printer. Then I turned it upside down and painted single lines in acrylic paint (using a wide brush) behind the words that needed to be highlighted. This can be quite tricky because when you turn the transparency over, it is mirror image and the words can be difficult to identify. But if you highlight a wrong word by mistake, you can wipe the paint away quickly and start again. I found that using the acrylic paint works better if you don't overload the brush with the paint. Also, I would recommend leaving the paint dry overnight - if left only for a few hours, the paint could be dry on top but still be wet underneath and make a mess when turned over.

My husband actually came up with this technique - he is very good at working out the best way of doing fiddly things like this.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've printed on the transparency. It is taking a long time to dry. I bought a bunch of 12x12 transparencies at a sale that had a funky looking decorative strip down the side and cut it to fit my printer. It is thicker than the kind I have used in the past and seems to take much longer to dry the ink, but were only 10 cents each. Someone told me I can use a heat gun (carefully) to help set the ink, but I have not tried yet. The ones I've used before dried in a couple of hours......may have to go back to them. Thanks, Sandy

Sandy,

12x12 transparencies for 10c sounds like a good deal. I have also heard of using a heat gun to speed up drying of ink on a transparency but when I tried it, it curled the transparency. I guess you have to be very careful not to overheat it.

An LSS had closed last fall and the owner was having a "yard sale" at her other business. I so wish I had bought all she had at the time, but I had so much in my basket by the time I found them I was afraid of the total. I think I did pick up around 15-20 of them anyway. I'll give the heat gun a try and let you know.
