My Trips #2

Well, I hope a'll enjoyed the other posts so far, I am still in Heaven!!! LOL!

The second trip I went on was was to Destin, Flfor two shows that we did at a big, fancy, snooty resort there. If you are fancy or snooty or both, I apologize to ya'll in here!!! But it is the way we were treated there that got us, besides the rotten spring break weather.

I left here late on sat morning after the painter had to repaint an illusion overnite at the alst minute (nothing new here - we OFTEN load stuff still WET!!!). I had hoped to get to and stay i Baton Rouge and see Selena. But like every other trip so far, schedules and plans slipped. I did make it there and shopped at Wal Mart there. I had these reall awfu shoes on that were killing my feet just sitting and drivig nad I had to get a new pair of SOMETHING!1 I did and those others went promptly in the can. I was so excited too as I found this really hge, soft, ploofy rabbitt for Molly for Easter. I can not wait to see her face!!

I left and got to the Pensacola arae early afternoon on Su. I stopped at the battleship USS Alabama in Mobile and oohed and awed there. In the panhandle area from Mobile thru to Destin I was so shocked at how uch hurricane Ivan damage there stil was. I just can not imagine what people went thru and still are. It is also intriquing to me at least around Fort Walton Beach on how many For Sale signs there were for "beachfront" property - LOL!!!

That was the best weather day of the whole week and on top of that ALL the spring breakers. It was like the traffic jam I was in for hurricane Ivan evacuation. You went NO WHERE - fast!

When I saw the white sands that a lot in here even told me about, I wasblown away. It is beautiful and serene. It looked just like snow drifts to me _ LOL! Actually just White Sands Missile rane in NM, it is something to see and loks out of place. After I fond where I was to be, I took the time to go sight seeing nad got me a whole ziplock bag full of white sand.

On Monday we unloaded and began setup. Tue nite was the first show and so it continued then too. The show was a part of different acts of a theme for a large corporat thing. There was a ice carver, a Out of the ordinry musical group called Rthyum Extreme from LA. They play on trash cans, buckets, etc and were really good. There was us and this French "trash" painter Jean Francois from Vegas. He paints using a broom, boxing gloves, by slinging pant, and so on. He was also a 'dry' humorist but a neat person once we got to know him Over all the show was ok.

Starting during that show I have a new part. I am now a 'official' stage hand and have a part too. In one of the illusions, called Sword Box, DT throws this REAL steel sword offstage. Someone lets out a loud cry of pain, I catch the sword like it stabbed me thru, stumble out on stage and die. The others then drag me off while I maon. It is kool but hard o the ole back, especially since their stage there was carpeted. I have this really huge carpet burn down the middle of my back that is still a bit touchy!! All part of show business.

We then had to tear the set down finishing it off on Tues. Then we had two days off to enjoy the awful weather. Who was not sc when we got there, well we all got sick afterwards!!

On Fri the real fun for us was in. we had 6 hours to set everything back up before the 2nd show. It went great and we finished tearing down nad laoding up at about 330am on Sat. VERY long day. I got a shower and got a few hours sleep before I left to head home.

Since the weather Fri morning was the best of the week, before we started to work I decided by George I was going to the beach nad get some surf in as I was there in FL. I got a couple gals to get my ic which I hope turns out.

So after all the shopping I did and travelng I am home safe and sound and pretty beat.

So that is a wrap until next time, so stay tuned!!! LOL!

(I am in Heaven - oh, and grumping and huffing because ALL this paper does not fit in my cabinet!!!)
