It sounds like a wonderful idea MC. Have you considered seeing if Provocraft will donate the Cricut?

With a good cause like that, I think you would probably have a good response to it. And $5 a chance is not too much because of the cause and the price of the Cricut...it's a good deal all the way around. I would buy tickets for it! (Uhh, can I paypal you and get in on the draw?)

Do you think it's a good idea and would you consider buying a $5 ticket. I'm thinking that I'll probably put up a couple of other items as prizes and will sell as many tickets as I possibly can here, in my TLC groups, with my crop ladies and at the various scrapbook stores in the area if they will consider helping out. The family is trying to buy a van that will accommodate Bella's wheelchair and she is such a sweet child I just want to do something to help out. I'm open to ideas.

I think it sounds like a great idea. 5.00 isn't too bad for a raffle ticket. Now I would think about a 10.00 one. But for 5.00 I would buy one. Good luck.

This sounds a great idea to raise funds to help Bella's family. I am sure that a fabulous opportunity to win a nice new toy would be well supported. I also think that $5 tickets is not unrealistic given the value of the main prize. What is the chance of Provocraft donating some prizes?......if not the Cricut, then perhaps some scrapping goodies. Worth asking them I would think!!

Wonderful idea! I'm in! Like has been said go for donations! A TLC pkg with lifetimes,a photo book or some kits and an album would be good too! Barb:o)

It's called osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). It ranges from mild enough that you just think you happen to break bones a little more often than the average person (sometimes never diagnosed) to serious enough that someone with OI could break bones simply by rolling over in bed wrong or sneezing too hard. With the aid of modern surgical techniques (rodding for the long bones & surgery to stabilize the spine [people with OI can develop very severe scoliosis, which can significantly restrict breathing]) & technology such as electric wheelchairs, lift vans & other devices to allow someone of short stature (common with the severe forms of OI) & mobility problems to lead fulfilling lives.

My roommate of several years/best friend of 25 years had OI, as did a friend of ours in college. Her dad has a mild form (always thought he was just the neighborhood clutz as a kid [often broke bones] until after Lisa was born & diagnosed & they figured out he has OI, too.

If Bella's family hasn't taken her to one of the Shriner's hospitals with an OI clinic, I heartily recommend it. I know there's one in Chicago; not sure where else. They offer services free of charge & have been pioneers in the treatment of OI.

I would partake too and think it is a great thing.

However like few others here MC, with your great people skills and all, I think if you contacted or asked various companies, you could get things donated for the cause. Much like April did a few ears ago and still does I think with the children's group things she does.
