new coluzzle templates!!

Has anyone seen these? a nesting file folder, library pocket and purse ones!! I have a few coluzzles and use them more than I thought I would... a friend of mine sold me all her fonts (she had like 5) for 30 bux... and I use them alot... i've been buying file folders... so this would save me.. I've checked my HL and Pat Catans but they don't have them.. anyone seen them anywhere yet???

OMG.. I just went to the site.. that is BAD BAD BAD of me... I'm amazed, they are catching up on what is popular now!

they have a spinner card one you can make cards that spin and show different things... so cool!! I saw the purse one, you can put a thing of post its inside the one size.. how cute! I have the card/envie one and use that alot... I can see a few more in my future, I'm really stunned... I guess I've been out of the loop huh?

And they came out with more alphas!!! Maybe I'll get the stencil alpha from them instead of saving up for a QK alpha (although I doubt they will ever come out with a Paige type alpha and I'm saving up for that).. LOL

I've got a few Coluzzle templates, but have not used them yet. You said they need to be prepared. Can you give me some more info on thei. I want to learn to use them the right way. Sandy

Well basically once you remove that film on them, all those "channels" still have gunk in them... and then this means the knife could slip and you could gouge your template (not good)... so you need to clean out those channels... how? Well take your coluzzle knife and run the dull side of the blade through the template (hold it backwards)... this will get all that gunk out.. do it a few times... the more you do it and the more you use your templates, the easier it will be.

what if you gouge your template? is it ruined? well, some would like you to think so .... but no... get some superglue and glue that gouge shut... then run your knife through a few times backwards again and make sure its smooth. tada!

also remember when using the template, any time there is a turn more than 45 degrees, you need to remove the knife and reinsert it... also when going around curves,,, spin the knife handle in your fingers, kinda roll it in the direction you are going... it takes some practice but you'll get faster... people see me use my coluzzle and say "i gave up on my coluzzles, they were always so hard to use"... they aren't.. but they take time.

also a tip.. for the nested ones... run a permenant marker along each channel, in a different color... nothing like trying to figure out which channel you were in when you pulled your knife out!

if you get a template that "jams" when running through it, make sure you haven't gouged it or it doesn't have gunk in it... clean it out or repair it...

HTH!

Thanks, I'm going to get them out this afternoon and follow your directions. Someone at a crop tossed one in the trash because it broke. I dug it out and brought it home. Will the superglue do the same thing to repair a break? Sandy

depends on how it broke... if it snapped of a big piece, it could break again but if you can tape it and glue it, you might be able to still use it.... which template and how did it break?

I will just have to go get the file folder one today, I love that one! I bought a bunch of these on QVC a while back and I just forget I have them. I will have to start using them again. Shasta

Can you use a swivle knife with the Coluzzle? I'm just curious because I have a swivel exacto knifey thing and love it.

I believe so, although I use the coluzzle brand one myself...

The Coluzzle one has a lip or edge on it that is supposed to help it glide thru their templates with less chance of gouging. I have a Exacto swivel one that I use and I gouge my templates all the time!

i bet if you superglued it back and put some good tape along the longest part of the break (around the outside of the template area) then you probably could.

break out the superglue dave hon!

OH.. another tip.. if you gouge it bad, you can always use a small piece of sand paper to fix it after you superglue it too...

Thanks Dave! I had wondered myself. I use a regular swivel too. Just by looking at the knife in the Coluzzle packet, I could not see a difference. With a regular swivel, I get a few nicks here and there but wasn't too fretful since Bluejean has taught me well. *G*

BTW -- if you want someone to show you how to use fibers, Bluejean's your girl! See what she did to me? Fibers everywhere!
