OT:Back from Georgia wedding-LONG

Hello all! Our four day trip to Georgia was a hot one! Phew! I don't miss that southern heat at all. It makes me appreciate our Midwestern weather all the more. We arrived at my sisters house Thursday about 7pm, and we went out to eat at Ryan's Steakhouse in North Augusta, SC. When we got back to my sisters house the boys went 4 wheeling with their cousin. They had a blast! We were waiting for them to return, and all of a sudden we got a huge downpour of rain. I'm telling you it rained buckets!! They were 1 mile away from home when the rain cut loose and they were drenched! I got a good pic of them dripping wet when they came in. haha! I hadn't been to Beth's house since they moved there some years ago. It was nice to finally see it and we also took a little tour of the community. We lived there 18 years ago, and it has changed so much. I hardly recognized the town. Friday afternoon we went on to Milledgeville Ga. and got to SIL parents house for wedding rehearsal and cookout. We had a great time! They had the whole shindig at their house, and it was set up really nice. After the cookout we all sat around and drank and laughed. Good times! I decorated the cake in the house that night, before the partying, and we left it on the dining room table until it was time to actually cut it. It was way too hot to put outside on the cake table. It was so hot..i think it was in the mid to high 90's- high humidity- and no breeze both days. Both my sisters from FL and SC were able to come for the wedding. The ceremony was down by the pool on Saturday at 5pm, with white Grecian columns and ferns as a backdrop. White chairs were set up on the rolling lawn down to the pool. Of course Terry's daughter Amanda was beautiful in her wedding gown. She did NOT want a typical wedding at all. But my Son-IL's parents insisted, and they went through with it, to satisfy her. She was so glad when it was all over. She doesnt like to be the center of attention, and this wedding was her worst nightmare! I thought she was going to pass out from the heat and nerves! I told her after they said their vows, they should have dragged the preacher and jumped right into the pool!! LOL My boys and my husband were handsome in their "dress clothes". (they dont dress up very often!) They were warned by me about picture taking..no hands in front of the face!!! I used three disposable cameras, and filled up my digi cam memory card! After it was all over, we did the usual reception stuff. Ate, cut cake, etc.. then everyone changed into cooler clothes and the party was on! The pool was well used by everyone. Even after dark it was hot. We went back to the motel and talked the hotel clerk to letting my us all swim in the pool after hours. My sister Beth and her husband, and sister Sandy and her boyfriend both stayed at the same hotel Fri and Sat night, so we had a really nice visit too. I don't get to see them too often. My sisters and I went to get pedicures Sat morning. Even my BIL got one..LOL he loves it. I had never had one, and I am hooked. It felt so good. We left for home Sunday at 9 am and took a little detour and went to Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga TN, and went to Rock City. It was a nice little family outing for us, just for fun, and a break from the long road trip. Yes, I took pictures there too! I'm glad to be home, Now I am catching up on the laundry and unpacking. Yesterday we were all pretty exhausted. Andrew had a baseball game and I had to work concessions. I am still a little tired, but I have all week at home for the rest of my vacation. I still need to work in a trip to Peoria, and a trip to Indy to see my grandparents this week. Gas prices were about $3.87 in SC and GA. Coming back thru Terre Haute IN, they were $4.15! I think we spent about $325 on gas round trip. Sandy, we went through Evanston Sunday on the way back and I waved at ya! We came thru about the time the storm was going thru there. It was a little scary looking! I will be sure and post some pictures when I get them all back. Thanks for letting me ramble!

Sounds like a great trip, with lots of family time. Those storms were something. They spotted two funnel clouds in Pike county and we went straight to the basement when the sirens went off. My oldest DD and family was here. We sat and talked while the kids played the playstation, waiting for the all clear so they could head for home. Sandy
