OT: Back from trip w/April

Been gone a few days and thought would post.

Just hada short trip to Denver park (first time to go to that park in 5 years been driving for this company). Since I had to literally go right by April's and was only go there and right back, she asked if she could go along. I made inquiry with boss and it was ok, if only she became a "unpaid and unworked employee" of the company!! Insurance reasons and if it is what works, it does I guess! The hassles of getting the pw done was the pain! I had not planned on her being bale to go until literally the evening before when she caled and told me she got the application back in time.

Anyhow I left here early Wed am and got to her place before noo. We then headed north and we talked each others ears off!!! She was pretty excited to go see another part of what onl a trucker does, but my interesting job!

The trip really was good except that in SE Colorado we they got a pretty good freezing rain storm from mid to late afternoon and I had about

50miles of it at the start.

The weather on Thu to unload was GREAT!! it was clar, sunny and crisp out and NO WIND!!! April took lots of pix of the unloading operation which she has posted on her webshots account. As I have foud out from most of the parks, the people do not have pix of each other, of anything that each other is doing and so on. That is why I made that mini album I did for my company at Christmas. It is just the nature of my industry I guess - work butt off, meet different people, literally EVERY day, and go to the next day. You remember people but have or get nothig to remember them by.

After we finished unloading we headed back, but not wthout a shoping side trip of course!! Since I did not expect to have her along till the ast minute, I planned a couple stops, one was The Container Store there in Denver and if time had allowed, a couple lss that i printed out maps for.

So we went to The Container Store. they have a lot of really neat ideas, but let me tell ya, they are really proud of their stuff!!! (read that as $'s!) I was disappointed as the stuff that I was wanting to get for food storage they did not carry. I got a few things to add in my "plans" for more reorganization of stuff in my stash at a later date - LOL!

As we headed back south, I had a map of a lss to stop at in Pueblo, but as we all know a lot of them do not seem to last long. The one I had plans to stop as it was close to the interstate and easy to get to with a semi. yep, you guessed it - out of business. Shucky durn!

So we just got back on big road and headed back for her house. i wanted to make it there and then sleep so I could get home when I was expected by noon on Friday. we made it and I was beat.

Anyhow I got back about when was scheduled and was exhausted. She emailed me late last nite I think (and I have to answer her YET!) She basically said she thoroughly was elated over the opportunity to ride in the truck and see what I do, as well all the stuff we talked about - LOL (yes some of it was about ya'll ENABLERS, ORNERY and TALENTED people in here!!) NO names will be expelled by ME!! She was somewhat disappointed though I think (I was, a LITTLE!) of not catching a lss. But like I told her dh, she was really somewhat richer as she did not get to spend any money - LOL!

So that is MY report on the trip and if she responds (surely not!) I think she will tell of her elation too!

I just wish I had the time to keep up with you all.. I miss my chats with April, and I've been getting a box of stuff together to send and gave up reordering her freaking sign (ask her, hurricanes are NOT nice to people trying to get something done!). UGH...

I'm glad you guys got to spend some time together! Y'all rock! :D

Yes... I was waiting for Dave to say something first....

I had a wonderful time. Rode in a truck once before for about 10 minutes but it was nothing like this. Bouncy bouncy up and down and back and forward. Almost like a roller coaster. I had a wonderful time.

Even had a better and wonderful hubby. Joked him that morning when he brought me to the highway to meet up with dave. Told him who'd thunk that I would ever see the day that a husband would take his wife to another man to leave!!!!.... we was laughing. My hubby is so wonderful. It was the first time since we have been married that I have gotten away for myself and he told me I was ready for it.

Now when we got back I went straight to bed because I was soooooooooooooooo tired. I tried so hard to stay awake at times. I had my head jerk to sleep a few times and sat up drank and kept awake as much as possible. I slept so hard when I got home that I missed my son hugging me in the morning and hubby said I was talking in my sleep about a donkey?...don't remember that one! Must have been out of it. Got up at 7:30 for Dave to come in and go thru my over 138 skeins of fancy yarn I had, watch american idol we missed and open all my packages I got in two mail runs while we were gone.

He gotta call and had to leave, wished him well as it was starting to sprinkle and told him to be careful and that is the last I heard from him till seeing him posting tonight!.... hope his sinus' are getting better too!

thanks for a wonderful memory!! ~cowchipper

P.S. get back down here Ronni....need to do more shopping and more Ted's!!!!!!!

Oh wow Dave! Sounds like you guys had a great bonding time. It must have been good to have some company on the long road aswell. I have to say, if I had the talent, my first choice would have been to be a photographer. I just love catching the moment and when a picture tells a story. But then, if I was a single guy, being a trucker would also be very tempting. It always get the idea of "freedom" when I see truckers (not being tied to a desk) and I love travelling aswell and seeing new places and faces ;). Don't laugh, but when I pass a truck on the highway, the song "King of the Road" always come to mind...lol!
