OT: Bought some Lunch Tins to Alter

Hi folks...finally bought some Lunch Tins to have a go at altering them. As usual I had to look for a cheap option since the Provocraft ones are around £5.00. here in the UK. I manage to pick up these at the local Asda for £2.85

and will probably use them for storage after I alter them. I am all for being thrifty....must be the canny Scot in me.....hahaha!

I know you'll have fun altering those! I bought some purse tins a few months ago. Used some of them at stamp camp for card organizers. Mine's almost full, which means I haven't been sending any cards. LOL Way to go Deb...make the cards but don't share them. LOL I used a few more a couple weekends ago with a couple young teen girls from church. I can't wait to see what you do with them!

Brilliant find Marilyn, think I'll go get a couple of those. I've been wanting to try altering something for ages but didn't know where to start, one of these will be perfect!

These tins look great! I have not done any altered art yet (since I am still new to all this papercrafting) but it definitely looks like a lot of fun... My husband offered to go and get some of these tins for me so I guess I can start taking out my acrylic paints and other supplies. I was thinking of painting them with light colour acrylic paint and then decoupaging them with paper napkins before adding further decorations.

Klara...send DH for the tins...they are seeling fast 'cos the scrapbookers love them for storage or gifts!! You will love the altered art once you start it :o) There is no right or wrong way to do things and as Kenda says...if you mess it up you can "bin" it or recycle. I still have a bunch of round sweet tins lying to alter and I saw that Tesco was selling playing cards in a tin.....mmmmmmm! Nice for mini albums....perhaps a shopping trip is on the cards!!

Hello Marilyn,

My husband - who has been trained well by myself to look out for things which would be useful for my crafts - bought me playing cards in a nice small tin in Tesco yesterday. He also said that they have dominoes in a larger but still nice tin for £1.97. I might try to go to Tesco myself in the near future!

Klara...your DH sounds a little like mine.......a real sweetie! He is always looking out for stuff I can use in crafts and often brings home goodies :o) I take him craft shopping when I go and he holds and carries all the bags and pays to boot....hahahaha! Haven't had a trip out to Tesco yet since my car has been off the road for repair....but once all my online packages have been delivered I will go look.......TFS :o)

The domino tin sound good......you can alter the dominoes also. Have you got Tim Holtz DVD? Has some great ideas for altering stuff although his techniques can be a little too dark for my taste.

Also bought a nice kit from here which I may use on one of my Lunch Tins...I see it is now sold out

Marilyn, I'm late on this thread! Have you posted a link for your altered lunch boxes? Would love to have a look :)

Oh yes, btw, on the QVC show a few weeks back - did you see how they used the Chizzel-It to create images on mirrors?? How cool was that! I've got tiny squars of mirrors which I wanted to use, but could not think of anything to do with. Got a lot of ideas now :)
