Good luck on quitting smoking Cec! I did it a little over three years ago. I got really sick and COULDN'T smoke! So I thought, what the heck, I'll try to quit! I had to carry my cig. case around with me at work like a wallet just to try and break the habit. Good luck singing too! :-) Linda

It's going to be a tough struggle, but I'm sure you will do just fine. It's a good thing you are starting this on a weekend too. That way you and your hubby can be there to support each other when times get hard. I'm speaking from a daughter of 2 parents who were chain smokers. Well, my dads been gone now for almost 4 years, but my mother still smokes heavily. We (my sisters and I) have tried to get her to stop tons of times. She doesn't have a lot of money and we keep telling her she would have more if she didn't have to buy cigarettes, but she doesn't listen. I know it's hard for her, but we just think of her health. So i will be thinking of you and your DH. I'm proud of you for trying.

Thanks for the support everyone, I'm now 43 hours smoke-free!!! and...... guess what......

yes.... WE WON the Talent Quest today!! It was such a surprise, there were some really talented singers amongst the contestants!! We sang Travelling Soldier by the Dixie Chicks, and it was wonderful to hear them call out our names as the winners!!! $250 split 3 ways, was a nice bonus for our weekend.

Hi Lynne, Yeah we have a few pics, but they didn't turn out too well.... of course, I'll still scrap them though... it was great :o) We even thought that the three of us should spend more time together singing and maybe get some regular gigs, that would be too cool :o) luv Cec...xxx

In my "Photos" album are just a few photo's taken today at the Talent Quest, the pics are not the best, but it will give me something I can scrap with!! DH thinks I should scrap the envelope that the prize money came in (well I would, but I ripped it open...lol) I might see if I can salvage it!

Sorry for the early post and all the mistakes in it. My fingers were going faster than brain - HUH? and I hit the wrong key!!

anyhow they put every week the money in this big piggy, err CAT bank mama had in front of the tv. That first year at Christmas they took it ou and was astounded how much there was. So they bought their presents with it. They were so happy and they did that way for years and used the money for a yearly trip and Christmas presents.

so that may be a idea for you too to save up for those extra special gifts, supplies or whatever!!

That's a great idea!! I've already got plans for my first weeks savings though, I'm going to get my hair cut and coloured professionally!! I haven't been to the salon in like ages, so I'm going to treat myself!! It's funny though, yesterday afternoon we went to the Markets, and there I saw a scalpel which would be just perfect for me (as I have misplaced mine), anyhow it was $10. I said to Paul, "I can get one cheaper than that surely..." LOL. How ridiculous am I? Not too long ago I didn't even blink about spending $10.80 on a packet of smokes! Just thought I'd share that with you.... I'm feeling really good about myself, I know it's still early days, but I know I'm gonna be just fine. Luv Cec....xxx
