OT: Destination: ART!

Doesn't the title just sound fun. I got a newsletter from my local Stamp Shoppe and they talk about something called Destination: ART! It is a two day expedition thru some of Sacramento's eclectic arts & crafts shops, galleries, & studios.

I did something called Quilt Rush a few years ago, where quilt shops banded together. They gave out a map of where everyone was. At each shop was a demo or project to do or to take home. There were great sales and drawings. I enjoyed it, but my heart really wasn't in quilting enough to spend another

400 miles driving around Northern California. I've never done it again.

Now I find out Destination: ART! has been going on for 5 years and I've missed it. I'm really looking forward to finding out where all the cool shops are and having some fun. It all takes place in March. Yahoo!

That sounds like fun Lynne. We have something like that here in Honolulu. It's called First Friday and on the First Friday of every month all the local artists band together and display their art throughout the entire downtown area, in random pubs, bars, restaurants, places like that. Then you get a map and just spend the night walking through Downtown. When you get tired you stop for a drink.

Hope you have a great time!

WOW that sounds like fun too. I bought a painting that was hanging in a bank many years ago. This was during the 80's ATMs weren't that popular and one actually went into the bank now and then. haha I saw it hanging in the distance on several occasions and I REALLY like it. I finally got up the nerve to ask about it. GUESS what it was for sale! I couldn't believe it as I thought it belonged to the bank and they'd think I was nuts for asking about it. It's hanging in my craft room as I speak.

Crystal, how funny. We have first Fridays here in Kansas City too. The galleries (there are a lot) all stay open late and serve drinks & snacks and such. I've never gone but it does sound fun sometimes.

Lynne, you'll have fun, I'm sure.
