OT: eBay question

Hi

Has anyone logged into their "my eBay" today and gotten a form to fill out that is asking way too many personal questions. Do you really want to give out your credit card number, id # ont he back as well as your pin to eBay?

Just wondering.

NOOOOOO, not sure if you are serious or not but if you are and emphatic NO you do not want to do this. It sounds like a phishing attempt, someone attempting to get you to divulge information in order to commit identity theft.

if you already have given the information cancel the credit card and have a call the credit bureaus to have a fraud alert put on your account. Also contact ebay to report he phishing and have them lock your account.

good luck, Lenora

HI Lenora

No I was serious. I went to

formatting link
and clicked on "my eBay" and that is when the screen popped up. I didn't do anything because it seemed weird. why in gods name would they care what my pin was let alone my mothers maiden name.

I'll alert eBay.

Kate...I just logged in on both eBay UK and US and didn't have the same experience you did when clicking My Ebay. I tried the link you sent through and got a Page Not Responding. Not a page like you described! This sounds really weird to me, so I would report it to eBay. But another thought I had was this could signify your PC security may have been breached. Run a spyware check ASAP!!!!!!

That's weird. Between DH & I, we've been logged into our seperate ebay accounts off and on since the 20th. Neither of us have gotten a message like that. I'm with Marilyn, run a spyware/adware check ASAP. If you don't have spyware/adware checking software, check out Ad-Aware from a company called Lavasoft. We have Ad-Aware, and it's free for personal use.

When I tried that link it said page not responding. Also when I logged into my ebay I did not get anything like that at all. I would just get out of that, delete my temp files and try going into my ebay again if I were you. Sounds wierd to me, unless you accidentaly typed in the wrong password when you tried to login.

Sounds like phishing! Send it to snipped-for-privacy@ebay.com

The best way to avoid these things is to look at the top of the page--if it is your name, then it is from ebay. If it just says something like, Dear Member, it is someone up to no good!

Good luck!

HI.

I did all of that. I did however give a bunch of gobbly gook as answers. I never got an answer from eBay.

Thanks everyone for your help. I always dump by cookies and temp files before we go to bed so I was worried.
