PJ kitty seems to be well on the road to recovery!!!!
It turned out she hasd "Hepatic Lipoidosis," which I had never heard of before, and am now an expert on. :)
It is not uncommon in cats, and can happen when they dont' eat for several days. My guess is something else made her sick, then she started to associate her food with being sick, and stopped eating She'd lost 3 lbs in a month. Luckily, it generally has a good prognosis.
So - after a weekend in an animal hospital and a blood transfusion, the poor, skinny thing came home with an esopheageal tube, and required 4 feedings a day. Unfortunately, she wasn't keeping food down, so things were a bit grim for the first week and a half. Then one day, she just stopped vomiting, and started gaining weight - thank goodness!
She's back up to almost 8 lbs (Should be 9), and has started eating small amounts on her own. She's also started grooming herself again,and giving the other kitty a hard time - so I know she's feelign better!
She still has a feeding tube, and requires 3 feedings a day (including a middle of the night one) so I am existing on low sleep, but once she starts eating on her own regularly, the tube can come out!
So, thank you again for all your well wishes! I truly appreciate everyone's friendship.
