OT: Homecoming Parade float pictures and STUFF

HI everybody. Whew I am glad last week is finally over!I got so behind on posts here, and between last night and today am trying to get caught up! I wanted to tell you all about my week! I was so busy with my oldest DS's Homecoming week activities, in addition to working, and a friend of mine from out of state is here visiting, and trying to fit in time to see her, and everyday STUFF...AAAGH! Time to slow down here, and catch up.I have had NO time for any crafting! :-(

Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures of the Homecoming float my DS's Junior class built for his high schools' Homecoming parade! All of the kids in all of the classes work so hard on these projects all week, and it really shows! The theme was Reality Shows this year, and DS class got SURVIVOR! There was also, The Contender, The Inferno, and Fear Factor. We had a lot of fun making ours. The parents chaperone and provide meals, snacks and lots of pop for the kids, and we all sit and roll up those darned balls of tissue paper for the kids to glue on the float.

I provided food one night, I made a VAT (LOL..18qt roaster pan FULL) of chicken and noodles, and another crock pot with mashed potatoes, and I made my cheeseball for a snack. They all ate it UP, and I only had maybe a quart of noodles leftover, and the potatoes were GONE too! They always ask for my "special noodles" This is the third year I have done it, and I just love it! These kids can EAT! They are all starving when they get done with soccer, volleyball, and football practice, then they come to help on the float, and eat first! I got to meet some of the parents of my DS friends for the first time and ended up discovering that I went to high school with one of them! It was kind of like a little reunion! His friend was a little freaked out, finding out that we had gone to school together, and they have been friends for the last 4 years and didnt know! HAHA! Anyway take a peek at them, and Thanks for peeking! >grin<

WOW!! That's about all I can say!! What a great job all the kids did! I am amazed that the kids did these, though not suprised, kids are creative when let loose. Those floats should be in the Rose Parade or something! My DH said, "High School kids did those? Wow" That's alot of praise from him! Tell the kids, "great job!!"

Wow! Those are great looking floats Linda. The kids did a great job on them. And it sounds like everyone had a great time making them, too. By the way, I have to ask about your "special noodles". My great-grandmother made homemade "noodles", but nothing like pasta, without a recipe. Of course, no one in the family can come close to coming up with the recipe. But they were sooooooooo good!

Thanks Kenda! Those kids can be very creative! of course the parents help with major construction too, as far as power tools and that sort.

Thanks Chrissy. Yes it was a hard decision, and I heard last night that the reason our Survivor float didnt get 1st, is because the other one had more color on it. Next year we will win!!
